I used an UView Airlift 550000 with a very small Craftsman compressor, and didn't even have to stop to refill.

I wanted to use a vacuum filling tool for that but I see they require "shop air" digging into it most of them need 5 cfm at 90 PSI at home I only have a small compressor for nail guns etc.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all! I am about to perform a coolant system refresh with a new coolant tank, water pump, thermostat, and hoses on my 99 C2 with 50K. I believe I have everything ready to go but needed to advise on filling the system. I wanted to use a vacuum filling tool for that but I see they require "shop air" digging into it most of them need 5 cfm at 90 PSI at home I only have a small compressor for nail guns etc. Can anybody give me recommendations for filling? Thanks in advance A

POST 2Original post

My small Harbor Freight compressor works fine with the UView Airlift kit. I use another shutoff valve on the compressed air side, so I can recharge the tank if necessary. https://www.harborfreight.com/air-to...sor-64596.html

POST 3Original post

These vacuum coolant fillers work great but let me give you a little advice: if your radiators are original, DON'T pull vacuum down to 20 inches as that can make the rads start leaking. Instead pull vacuum down to 10 inches or so. Fill in the coolant until it stops. Then pull vacuum down to 10 inches again (or until it starts sucking up coolant) and fill in more coolant. Keep doing this and you won't have radiator leaks. I learned this the hard way and had to replace three 20 year old radiators last year.

POST 4Original post

You could fill it okd school. Depends on how much you drain. When i did the wp, thermostat, coolant tank i didnt use vacuum to drain or fill. After i was done i gravity filled what it would tank. Idled just to temp for a few minutes with the coolant cap off. Let it cool. Filled again. Repeat once or twice. Then took it around the block and refilled a last time. Next couple drives not far from home. Some say to run it with the cap off for a few days and refill as needed. I had zero issues.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the warning I will definitely keep that in mind. I plan on purging the system with air so I will also keep the PSI down to around 10. Any thoughts on a filler kit? I was thinking about one of these.. Amazon Amazon
