Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm aware the sensor is in a different place, and the size is slightly different, but I'd like to know if anyone has used the .2 part in a .1.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I have searched extensively but haven't yet found a conclusive answer to my question, apologies if I missed a post where this is confirmed. Basically I'm loaning my daily to my mother-in law as her car completely failed, currently trying to "make do" ferrying my 2 kids around in my 996 until I can buy her a new car. Was out today in 36 deg C weather and my coolant tank split / cracked / leaked etc. My car is a 2000 996 C2 with the earlier style tank. Phoning the Porsche dealers in the area, the replacement 996.1 part is over $800 CDN + 2-3 delivery. The 996.2 part is $200 CDN and in stock. I'm aware the sensor is in a different place, and the size is slightly different, but I'd like to know if anyone has used the .2 part in a .1. After going through multiple posts about this, I'm going to avoid the aftermarket options as they seem to have a high failure rate. If it won't work, I'll order the correct part and wait, its just massively inconvenient to have this failure this week.

POST 2Original post

There r deffinate differences and we have not had anyone here confirm that it can be done. I have a mk1 tank that is old and was not cracked when pulled. If u r between a rock and a hard place i am willing to send it out for the shipping but i can not gaurentee how long it will last and u may have to do it again in the future. Pm if u need it. Aaron

I have had good success with the Behr units, apparently they are the OEM supplier: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...6&KeepHeader=Y
