Suggestion
I guess the front would be more expensive because I think you'd have to replace both the headlights.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone ID the bumper covers and head/taillights on my 99 996 Carrera Cabriolet? I was told perhaps GT3 or Turbo rear bumper and aero kit side skirts. Just learning my way around the car hence the questions. Im pretty sure they are not stock.
The side skirts appear to be OEM for 2003-2005 models. The early 996's skirts are more rounded. The rear bumper is most likely not from a turbo without modification since the turbo is a wide body. Never seen a GT3 with that bumper.Nothing wrong with being different unless you're going for pure stock.
I learned the rear bumper cover is either from or styled after the C4S. That is a wide body I believe so not sure how the cover would fit my Carrera if an OEM C4S cover. Im guessing aftermarket and styled after C4S, sized to fit the Carrera. In that case I want the front to match! Anyone know who makes them?
From the side shot you have the front looks like it’s stock maybe post a better pic
also go to a body shop the bumpers come off pretty easy and they can identify what you have
I like the way your car looks
The C4S is a widebody car too. Were I guessing I would think you have this rear bumper:
https://www.gt-racing.com/996-turbo-...-996-part-643/
They have various front bumpers including turbo style for early headlights:

Since nobody else has answered this part: Your headlights and taillights themselves definitely look like stock. Headlights look to be the optional Litronic (Xenon/HID) which look different from the more traditional halogen ones.

In answer to your question on the rear bumper. It's an after market bumper since Porsche never made one for the narrow body cars. Vision sells then, haven't looked but I think Getty and Mike Shaw does as well. Plus a few other body specialists do as well.
Try posting pics of the front of the car and get under the car and take pics of the inside of the bumpers they will tell you everything you needed to know
Hello Rennlist community-
I have two questions I was hoping you could help me with. One is specific to my problem at hand. The other is more general, since I find myself in a similar situation often.
1st Question
The front bumper cover on my 1999 996 mk1 needs to be replaced. After giving my local P-car dealership my VIN, they confirmed the part # for my stock bumper cover is 996.505.111.22 I have found a replacement part that 'looks' like it would fit - specifically, the area of the bumper cover that accepts the headlights. But the part number is just one digit off: 996.505.111.02 When asked if these parts might be interchangeable, the parts guy couldn't say. Anyone here have any idea?
2nd Question
What do you do in these cases when trying to find replacement parts for your application? Is there a resource available to the public to help? There must be a better way than cross referencing ebay listings (or bugging the hell out of the local p-dealership parts guy) Any advice?
Lastly, can anyone explain the graphic on that last pic, taken from inside the seller's bumper? Is the answer to my question is staring me right in the face?
Thanks for your help
-Jason
I get parts numbers from here:
https://www.porsche.com/all/media/pd...96_KATALOG.pdf
But according to the diagrams the part number for the bumper is
99650531107
for '99-'01 and
99650531106G2X
from '02 onwards. Not sure what the discrepancy is.
As for the graphic that is a calendar showing last 5 months of '97 and first 5 months of '98, and the last month of '96 it looks like?
The PP+T20 EPDM refers to the materials, I think.
Often the part number on the part itself and the p/n under which it is listed differ.
One reason is that the part provided in reality consists of an assembly of multiple parts and requires a p/n that is unique and as such different from the p/n visible on (one of) the part. The aero kit front bumper cover is a good example: it consists of the cover and glued to it is a guide to it into which the radiator inlets slot.
The p/n used to identify and describe it 'on the internet' is often the one on the cover but that isn't the p/n porsche lists the assembly.
Another reason could be that the spare part receives a different p/n because of different packaging of the parts between those intended for delivery to the assembly line and those for the spare parts warehouse.
In case of stock bumper covers (where the inlet guide is a separate part) the cover listed in the parts catalogue is primered and needs a different p/n to distinguish it from the raw part coming out of the mold.
You can download the parts catalogue from the Porsche.com website or use those on sites of online retailers like porsche Atlanta.
Edit: the cover in the photo is correct for your 1999. The difference between this and the one fitting the facelifted 996 is the shape around the headlights as well as radiator openings.
ETA, as response to post above:The calender in the pictures is used to document the production month of the part. The little Spikes are the results of manual punch marks in the injection molding tool. Every first working day of a new month the appropriate box is punched.
Thus shown part was manufactured in May 98.
As hinted above the pp + epdm...is the material mix. The documentation on the part itself is required for recycling purposes..
T20 denotes 20% talcum as reinforcement.
