Suggestion

You will need to replace every speaker to get the best sound possible, the paper OEM cones will not be able to handle the sound from the PCCM+.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 99' Carrera has the hifi sound system and I'm looking into the PCCM+, though most people I see who have installed it did so to upgrade from the base system. Are there any cons to going from the hifi package to the PCCM+? I saw someone post about Porsche's lack of info on how to install the new console when the car originally had hifi and it gave me a bit of cold feet on getting it.

Thought I would jump on to help you out. I also have a '99 with the Hifi and the instal is ridiculously easy, in fact it is so much simpler than the Bose installs you will be shocked at how much of the kit you don't need. There are a couple of good videos on YouTube that show what you will need to do to get it installed properly in your dash. That will be your biggest challenge and you may have to get creative to ensure a proper fit and it WILL be tight. It's a great upgrade IMHO, with one caveat... You will need to replace every speaker to get the best sound possible, the paper OEM cones will not be able to handle the sound from the PCCM+. I would also recommend adding the Sirius radio as well, it adds even more options for music, etc.

POST 3Original post

What speakers did you get? Did you have to do any mods?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks so much!!! That's great news. What speakers did you get? I'm worried I'll get ones that don't match up. Also is it worth it to consider delegating the work to a shop/dealership? I'd love to do it myself but replacing all the speakers seems like an intimidating endeavor!

POST 5Original post

Hey for those of you considering this. The challenge will be the in dash speaker set. You can either build your adapter like this: You Tube Or buy an adapter like I did from this gentleman: You Tube Either way you have to be mindful of the dimensions of your speakers due to the limited space. My speaker list: In Dash - RetroSound R-452N Door - Rockford Fosgate R1525X2 Prime (5.25-Inch - Be sure to go with speakers that have great lows) Rear - Rockford Fosgate R14X2 I hope this helps.

Hi - this looks like a great solution! How do I find that adapter kit? Larry

POST 7Original post

Look at the YouTube video description and comments. All of his contact information will be there. I did tip him extra when I paid for it since the guy doing this is just doing it out of Porsche love.
