Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After the exhausting jackstand experience of Saturday, yesterday, Sunday I decided to try something less tedious. I was getting way too much wind noise from the passenger side. The culprit was window fore and aft positioning. So I removed the door card. - battery disconnected - following project 76 I began removing the necessary fasteners. I was confounded by the missing 'trim clip on the pull handle' mentioned in Step 1. My car has no such thing. Bentley Manual to the rescue. My car, you remove the entire cover of the door pull. Thats Bentley 57-3. 'using a plastic pry tool start at top edge of door handle trim, disconnect trim clips then remove door handle trim'. I followed on from there. Woohoo! Door card removed. Window adjustment fore and aft, at least on my car, doesn't require removal of any plugs at the bottom of the door, or accessing the torx screws hiding there, with an extension up through the bottom of the door. There are 4 mounting points for the regulator. I just very slightly loosened the top two, and nudged the window rearwards to restore the spec gap. Those torx are hiding behind the two black plugs at top of door, front and rear. In my research for this job I was led to believe you had to loosen all four. I hope I didn't wreck anything. The window is quieter and operates correctly at close / open and window up/down. Here's a pic of where I accessed the clamping bolts. Bentley says torque to 8.5 Ft Lb. Drivers side gap Passenger side gap!! (Before). And yes, I am that handsome. Don't hate. While I had the door card off I went ahead and added some sizeable squares of kilmat to the door body / panel. Much more 'dead' now when tapping it.

POST 2Original post

I gotta do this. My driver window binds on the rear glass. Annoys me. I have been lowering the window when I enter/exit the car as my procrastination tactic lol.

That is really good to know. When I adjusted mine, I didn't realize that. So took the door card off as well as the membrane underneath. Then adjusted the window hold downs while the window was at the bottom of it's travel. Your method is better - can reach those adjustment screws behind the plugs when the window is in the raised position. A lot less disassembly.
