I drove without them for a while and then fitted the inserts which resulted in a lot more drive train noise than without.

I replaced the mount on my manual gearbox for an original one and used the ocassion prior to fitting it to make my own inserts by pouring 2 part PU (75 Sh(A)) into the voids one side at a time..

My whole power unit is out so I was also thinking of replacing the OEM bushing.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Im about to replace the transmission mount bushing on my 2001 996. Considering upgrade to urethane and looking for guidance re: OEM bushing with aftermarket inserts vs. new urethane. Car has 86k miles. Also wondering about any other things that should be looked at while in the shop. Appreciate ya takin the time.
I changed to the poly a couple months back and couldn't be happier. I followed the on-line video, but found it easier to align everything by putting a bit of grease on the mount. Just my experience with a tip

I drove without them for a while and then fitted the inserts which resulted in a lot more drive train noise than without. Start of 2022 I took them out.
Main reason for putting them in was to see if the driveline shunting I experience when lifting off and stepping on the throttle would be reduced by the inserts. No improvement was noticeable, unfortunately.
This is all with RSS engine mounts.
My whole power unit is out so I was also thinking of replacing the OEM bushing. It's not damaged so is there an advantage to replacing it? Mine's a base C2 Cab and may autocross but nothing serious.
Thanks, I’m leaning toward OEM and adding urethane inserts in the street sport configuration. My C2 has 86k and the bushing is the one it came from the factory with. The rubber is old and torn.
