I had a dude in Waltham do it, he's the man - later repaired a couple of my Dads SL63 wheels to perfection, very reasonable priced as well.

I used their color-matched paint for my sister's car and it was perfect.

That is probably the sexiest Boxster that I've ever seen!

I am not unhappy, the barrels of me wheels were beyond any normal cleaning but it just came out different than I expected.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just got back from taking it out for a cruise and snapped a few pics. I am happy with how they came out, I was worried because I've never done anything other than silver or anthracite type colors. The color is called goldtastic and it has a clear and I applied Opti-Coat Pro+ to them. The faces of the wheels were actually in excellent shape but the barrels were toast, didn't even come clean with mechanical abrasion.
I like it! Gold and blue is really sweet together, plus the saddle interior is the icing on the cake. Having said that, I must now confess that I have the identical Ocean Blue cabriolet with saddle interior, and the Sport Design wheels painted gold, so my opinion is biased.
At risk of offending people, it reminds me of the great Subaru color combo and I think that's no bad thing! I've been contemplating a similar thing with the winter wheels for my DD (Interlagos blue BMW) so I'm totally on board with what you've done here.
Awesome stuff.
ETA: Just went back and noticed how you aligned the center caps. Well done
I have always liked the world rally blue and gold wheels on the STI, I think its really a classic look for those cars. Thanks, I actually noticed in the one picture I hadn't aligned the caps and I was waiting for someone to call me out but they are all aligned on the car!
Hi guys,
I am wondering if you can assist me in getting closer to a color match for these wheels.
I would like to match the "Matt Carbon Bronze" from IW Automotive. See link below and picture of wheel color:
https://www.iwautomotive.com/iw-ffr1.html
I was originally looking at Windsor Bronze from Prismatic, but the picture shared in this thread earlier makes me think that color wouldn't be bright enough.
It's quite hard to confidently choose a color, especially in bronze, as the lighting in which the color is displayed has a big effect on it.
Any recommendations or help would be very much appreciated guys!
It can be hard to match colors, my goal was closer to the Porsche crest color but it came out a bit different. Maybe if I had gone satin it would be a little less bold, find a powder coater local to you and they should have color samples available.
Thanks for the tip. I guess I will have to find someone local to me and go through some colors with them in person. Trying to match on a computer screen is going to be impossible!
That said, I would love to see anybody's bronze powder coats with color code info for reference!
It is hard, I thought my color looked great against the paint but that was a small sample. I am not unhappy, the barrels of me wheels were beyond any normal cleaning but it just came out different than I expected. The majority of people who have seen it, mainly my detailing customers say it looks good but I think most people won't say to your face it doesn't look good lol.
Bumping this thread since I am in the game to get my Lobster Forks power coated bronze - I was all in on Bronze Chrome and I have to say it looks way darker in your pics for some reason? You mentioned light playing a big role but what about the Casper Chrome, was that a less glossy clear?
Also what's up fellow masshole
You should be able to go to or at least see any color. I am sure you could find a bronze that is a little lighter.
They have been holding up great the last two years, I ceramic coated them as well and they are a breeze to clean. I used Vibrant Finish down in Pendel, Bonehead Performance in Feasterville is another great option. I think when I was looking they were in the process of moving or something and they were behind.
Thanks, I am normally not one to do something so bold so I definitely have times I want to mix it up. My plan was to always get a set of Apex wheels anyway, figured something lightweight would be a nice mod.
The bronze chrome is glossy, my set had casper clear as a 2nd stage which gave the matte look.
Bronze chrome without the casper clear
This is a pretty good reflection of how my set looked, but as I said, showed a wide variance under different types of sunlight.

Great info, thanks. Mine are currently at Northeast Wheel Repair in Everett and should be done today.
The sample you found with just the Bronze Chrome looks completely consistent with all the others I've seen and exactly what I'm looking for. The one thing I'm not 100% on is what to do with the center caps. Probably go with black and the gold crest - can't powder coat those of course and color matching would be nearly impossible.
Appreciate the input!
Will post pics when they are back from coating and on the car.
Had my Cayenne wheels powder coated in a satin bronze chrome. They look great. I didnt want a shiny finish but also didnt want silver or black. Cebter caps hard to match but the bit of contrast isnt terrible.
Alloy Wheel repair in El Paso is my go to. $700 for the set including mounting and balancing my tires/tpms i carried in. Same place did my 996 wheels i made a thread about last year.
Marine blue metallic i think the paint is called on my 2008 GTS.
Got three wheels back today - one had a defect so they are stripping and re-coating it. Anyway, here you go - no center caps yet and the car is still on stands of course until I get the 4th wheel back.
Bronze Chrome on black:
alloy wheel repair does the caps with spray paint if you drop them off with the wheels. They try and match as close as they can get. As these are franchises, other locations may not offer that bonus service.
I custom ordered this color so they didnt have the same color spray.
It appeals to me. The combination of gold and blue is stunning, and the saddle inside is the cherry on top. Having said that, I must admit that my perspective is skewed because I own an identical Ocean Blue cabriolet with a saddle upholstery and gold Sport Design wheels.
I think some select Autozone's can scan and creat color-matched paint in a spray can for your center caps. Only select Autozone stores have that ability. I'm not sure how to tell which Autozones offer that. I used their color-matched paint for my sister's car and it was perfect. In think for her car they just looked up the color code formula and mixed the spray paing, but I believe they can scan colors also.
