Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The computer aids were engaging/disengaging frantically to adjust per the wheel sensors.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust per the wheel sensors' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust per the wheel sensors' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

On a C4 or any computer aided all wheel drive system you have to be careful changing overall tire diameter .
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Quick question . I have 18 x 10 w rims on my 02 C4 with 285 30 18 tires on rear and 18 x 8 rims with 225 40 18's on the front. Question is how much taller /wider can I go on the rears? The 285/30's are shorter than the front 228/40's. I feel like I'm on the ground. seems like I have the room on the diameter? Being a C4, does it matter to keep the diameters all the same since its all wheel drive?
Went through this exercise not too long ago when sourcing some Oz wheels for my 996.1
I will say, it all has to do with the offset of the rear wheel and which suspension you are running- do you have the wheel offsets for the rears? Are you on factory suspension or coil overs?
My car is on PSS10S, and I believe my OZ 18x10 rear wheel with a 63mm offset allowed me to fit 295/30/18- comfortably and cleanly after dialing in the coilovers.
A good way to start, I’d have a look at the tire size calculator- enter your current 285s, then do a comparison of a 295/35/18.
(Here’s a link for that)
https://tiresize.com/calculator/
After that point, go out to the car and try your best to measure the differences from your current setup to what your future setup would be (I’m assuming you’re hoping to fit the 295/30/18s)
You will have a taller, wider tire with a larger overall diameter and may possibly be able to squeeze that with the setup.
The HRE wheels in the photo above definitely have a more aggressive offset-than my setup (and they look great). Rubbing would be the only slight concern as it is currently setup, when going larger
On a C4 or any computer aided all wheel drive system you have to be careful changing overall tire diameter . You can reach a point where the diameter can confuse PSM/ABS . Especially when turning . I recently drove a C4 with larger rear tires than stock ( height ) in the mountains and it was a handful . The computer aids were engaging/disengaging frantically to adjust per the wheel sensors. In my opinion if you go with taller tires in the rear you have to go the same amount on the front .
I'm going to try the 295/30's . I have 225/40's in the front. They seem to be the best match. Only .1% difference on the od. Since I have a C4 all wheel drive.
Another easy way is to go to tirerack.com. They can tell you what sizes will fit on your rims.
Keep in mind changing the height of the tires will change the accuracy of your odometer.
You can do what you want but my suggestion is trust the Porsche recommended sizes. There are SOOOOOOO many things that over/under size tires will change...
I just went through this with my C4. And the biggest question I got asked is "WHY?". Why do you want bigger tires in the rear. If tracking the car, sure, they can help, but ONLY if the proper diameter ratio between front and rear is maintained. Bigger tires in the rear do look good, but they do add drag, and again, you'll need to be extremely careful of diameter ratios and don't forget wheel offsets.
In the end, I am not going to track my car, so I stuck with the stock 18" 225/40 and 265/35 size. Went with these Conti's-

. Good good reviews and a really reasonable price point, plus I have had these on several different cars and they perform great for what they are. Mount and balance next week, can't wait !
Just my 2 cents.
