Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I believe that the 996 and 997 use the same wind deflector and storage bag.

Maybe it's just a packaging piece, used for shipping only?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am new to P-cars, so apologies if this seems like a basic question. My 2000 C2 cab has this black styrofoam piece in the front boot storage bag. It seems to fit perfectly in the bottom, but the folded wind deflector does not seem to fit properly with it. Any idea if this belongs in there?

My storage bag does not have that styrofoam piece in place, and the folded deflector fits perfectly.
My deflector fits in the bag perfectly too without the styrofoam, but it still leaves me wondering what it's for since it seems to be made for the bottom of the bag. The deflector doesn't seem to fit right with the styrofoam piece in the bag though.
Any ideas?
Well, you really should rename this thread: "Where do you keep your wind deflector". You'll get a million responses (most of which, like this post, will be totally unhelpful).
Maybe it's just a packaging piece, used for shipping only?
I bought my deflector used, so I had to make my storage own bag out of a scrap of fabric. Works great!
One note I'll add is the C2 bag is different than the C4 bag. I bought my deflector used and it came with a C4 bag but it didn't have this extra piece that's in my C2 bag.
My deflector fits in the bag perfectly with the foam in the bottom. '04 C2 cab. Without the foam it just flops around aimlessly - not unlike some people I know.
here are some pics showing the wind deflector and foam. Most importantly shows where to place the styrofoam piece prior to storing in the bag. Hopefully this clears it all up.
^ foam is set between outside panels
^ insert deflector in bag
^ close flap and voila, perfect fit!
The 996 C2 has a different bag than the 996 C4/C4S/Turbo because of how it attaches as the C2 has the spare standing up while the others have the front diff. housing in that spot.
