You can read codes and reset with the best of them.

I think the OE factory transmission mount is what most people use on the road.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys.
Well, 3 and a half years after selling my 996 TT, I decided to go back to the Porsche 911, a car I like a lot, especially the 996. So, about two months ago, I found a very nice 2001 C4 coupe with a manual transmission, in lapis blue over savanna interior. I'm very happy with the car so far and I already did a few things since the car needed a bit of love (engine mounts, one oxygen sensor, new a/c compressor, etc.).
Now that I get to know the car better, I can see that my 996 has a few typical gremlins and I wanted to have your input on a few topics :
- Check engine is back on. I'm wondering if all of the oxygen sensor are prone to fail more or less in the same period.
- My engine mounts are brand new but I still feel the engine and/or transmission are moving when I press the clutch. I guess the transmission mount is dead. Any suggestion on a good stock replacement part ?
- Just like my 996 TT, there's a very annoying brrrr kinda noise (coming from the front) when I ride over small bumps at slow to moderate speed. I never got to solve the problem on my TT and now it's back to haunt me on the C4. Any idea ? Seems pretty common but still pretty hard to find and fix.
- The sunroof has it's own way : it wont listen to my orders... I'm trying to reset it but haven't been able to find the procedure.
- My battery cannot seem to take charge up to 100%. Dead ?
- The wing light in the dash comes on every time I start the car and goes off a few seconds after I start rolling. Some say it's normal...
I know it's a lot of things guys. I thank you in advance.
Merci mes amis !!
Congrats!
Check engine light could be anything, so we can't really help you without knowing the code. I can tell you that my light comes on every 3 days or so after resetting it for the secondary air injection system. It's more of an annoyance than an actual problem. Eventually, I'll get it coded out with a ROW tune, but I'm going to wait until I do a few specific mods to get my money's worth on the tuning.
I think the OE factory transmission mount is what most people use on the road. I think O2 sensors are typically replaced as a set. Good luck and please keep us updated!
Welcome back to the 996.
If you don't already have one from your turbo, get yourself a Durametric or something of equivalent capabilities. You can read codes and reset with the best of them. As many of the guys mentioned, tough to tell you what it may be without the codes. However, try cleaning your MAF. Seems to be in the center over many issues. Won't cost you anything but a few min.
