Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Knew about the flywheel and pressure plate, but choose to only replace the clutch disc and bearing.

Have had to force myself to use low RPM clutch release in 1st.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got the transmission out and replacing the clutch. Taking pix as I go along. Hopefully the pix will give a sense of what things look like if someone is doing the same job.
Rear Main Seal. The IMS was replaced 8 months and 1500 miles ago. One the camshaft sensors is leaking oil. Looks like the Bosch o-ring is a buck.
The oil cooler is clean and dry. Secondary Air Injection is throwing a code, but it looks easier to get from the back of the car.
Anything else I should address?

The previous owner put a used engine it in and updated the IMS at that time. Had no intentions of keeping the car. Knew about the flywheel and pressure plate, but choose to only replace the clutch disc and bearing. Very proudly reported that it had a new clutch, but after the clutch slipping like mad in just 1500 miles and looking through the receipts I realized that it did not have a completely new clutch. The previous owner passed the problem along to me. He does frequent this site with sales in the Marketplace.
So you going to put in new stock type flywheel or what? I probably have taken miles off my clutch by the way I drove it initially. My GTI would spin the tires at will. The C4S 315/30 x 18s just don’t spin. Have had to force myself to use low RPM clutch release in 1st.
Cheers

That's because the engine is behind the axle and during launch most of the chassis weight also gets transferred over the rear axles too. There is too much weight over the axles to easily spin the rear tires.
