I swapped bulbs & harnesses left to right, the issue keeps on popping up for those same 3 lights on the passenger side.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All, Would appreciate your help on following diagnostic : ABS/PSM comes on after about 2 miles into every new ride (after a new 'start-up') Seems to be related to the passenger sid e taillight, of which 3 of the sub-lights do not work (see picture, they are marked with blue painter's tape). All lights/bulbs on the driver's side work. I already excluded following potential issues : 1] Stop Light switch (near brake pedal); 2] Tail light wiring harness; 3] Bulbs I am really at a loss where to go next with my diagnosis, anybody got an idea or went through a similar experience ? 2004 Turbo cab, but I assume the wiring is similar to a regular 996.

POST 2Original post

Check the filaments in the bulbs I had one that had the tail and brake break one and it fell across the other and all kinds of mahem ensued.. Also the traces on the tail-light housings can break or get loose.. I had to use a small dab of epoxy to keep 2 of mine from shorting..

Thanks. I swapped bulbs & harnesses left to right, the issue keeps on popping up for those same 3 lights on the passenger side. As such, we can eliminate any issue with the wiring harness or the bulbs. This would lead me to believe that the issue is somewhere upstream inside the car, beyond the connector shown in the picture below. Does the driver side tail light feed the passenger side by any chance? Could any of the wires in between have shorted ? By the way - greetings from Bend. One of the local shops (German Master Tech) already had a look at it and misdiagnosed. They threw new wiring harnesses at the issue - didn't help. Anybody you can recommend in the valley ? Bend is just horrible for any decent car or bike stuff.
