Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hi Michael, i've got similar problem in the Pressure Gauge when i replaced the gauge faces.
Leading evidence: 'Replace gauge faces' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check connector pins' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Double check those ribbon cables to make sure they are in the socket correctly and not misaligned in the socket.

Suggestion
Here is what I would do - remove the gauge cluster again, clean all pins and plugs with electrical cleaner, test plug everything together before installing the gauge cluster.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Removed the instument cluster to replace the beige bulbs and cruise indicator bulb only to find the tachometer needle will jump and freeze. It jumped to 3000RPM, then 7000 RPM and finally made a 270 degree rotation off the dial to point straight down.
I pulled the case and spun the needle back to zero. Needle is secure to spindle. You can even hear the servo working. I have attached a video link to see exactly what os going on. All wiring and connectors are in excellent shape and engaged.

Hi Michael, i've got similar problem in the Pressure Gauge when i replaced the gauge faces. The trouble was the tachometer needle was too behind to the face and can't return in position because touch the face. Try to take little more distance between the face and the tachometer needle.
You went from a functioning tach to a completely screwed up tach because you removed the gauge cluster to replace light bulbs. And I don't think spinning the tach needle is going to help anything here. Something is out of whack. Here is what I would do - remove the gauge cluster again, clean all pins and plugs with electrical cleaner, test plug everything together before installing the gauge cluster. Did you unplug any of the ribbon cables? Or maybe move one out of its socket? Double check those ribbon cables to make sure they are in the socket correctly and not misaligned in the socket. If you have unplugged a ribbon cable, clean up the ribbon cable connectors with a pencil eraser to ensure a good contact.
