Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

There is a pressure fed bearing surface which was replaced and new consumables.
Leading evidence: 'Replace there is a pressure fed bearing surface' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace there is a pressure fed bearing surface' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have run across a IMS Solution that was used for around 10K miles and sent to LN for refresh including, new seals, consumables, and replacement of bad parts.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I will be either rebuilding a 3.4 or swapping it out for a running 3.4 that I have. If I swap motors, at the very least, I would like to do a few preventative items while I have it out like new clutch, RMS, Chain tensioners, AOS, Coolant Tank, water pump, and IMS Bearing. I have run across a IMS Solution that was used for around 10K miles and sent to LN for refresh including, new seals, consumables, and replacement of bad parts. It seems like a pretty good deal until I looked and found out that LN will not rent the tools to install unless you purchase directly from them. Once the tools have been purchased it is no longer such a great deal.
I was wondering if there was anyone knew of an alternative place to rent the tools? Maybe someone that purchased in the past that would like to get some of their investment back?
What are the rebuildable portions of the LNE IMS bearing solution?
Is this perhaps an LNE IMS bearing retrofit such as the single or dual pro your looking at? To that I would say how much is the bearing and is it really worth the cost savings and hassles? If I was rebuilding a M9x I certainly wouldnt be looking to cut any corners.
There is a pressure fed bearing surface which was replaced and new consumables. Not a lot to be done to it which is why I thought it would be acceptable to purchase rebuilt
You mean the bearing that is installed in the IMS doesn't move? That might be a big problem.
As long as there are no scars/ scratches on the bearing surfaces (bearing and flange), the main pieces should be salvageable.
I expect the following parts are replaced: the IMS plug, the stud o-ring and nut, the shim, snap-ring, flange seal, fasteners and filter adapter o-ring.
It's conceivable a new braided line and fittings could also be in the refurbished kit.
The big ticket items are the flange, the bearing and the spin-on oil filter adapter. Just reusing those items should be a reasonable savings. This assumes the bearing gets pulled out of the old engine. It's possible that could be in the kit as well.
It is a complete kit just like purchasing from LN. My understanding is that it has a bearing surface (like a cam bearing) that is pressure fed with oil from the filter instead of a ball or roller bearing. The engine it came out of had a catastrophic failure so all was removed and sent to LN for rebuilding.
If it is less than $1317, then I say go for it.
If it
IS
$1317, then I probably know your source, and I say go for it!
If you're paying more than that, let me know.
This is hilarious, this unit belong to Slacker before and pulled from his engine that grenaded, he sent it to L&N to rebuild it, they are rebuildable. if it was a single bearing unit, I would have bought for the great price he offered it for.
No - not this time. Though one could easily assume this. I have often told my friends, they can tell if I'm being sarcastic if my lips are moving.
So back to the facts: in order for a bearing to actually act as a bearing, there must be one part moving relative to another. In the case of the Solution, one part is the flange. The Solution bearing is pressed-in to the IMS and it
moves
with the IMS. The oil feed provides a film between the rotating IMS bearing and the flange.
To state that there are no moving parts is just wrong. That's exactly like saying, because the crankshaft rides on plain bearings, there are no moving parts.
Yes - I understood the concept from the start. I am familiar with the Solution; having just installed one in my engine a few months ago.
If LN has deemed it rebuildable, I have no doubt they will do it right. Yes - it will be a complete kit. I was simply speculating on what would be replaced to make it a complete kit.
