Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone have a part number for the gasket on the headlight between the headlight and the bumper?
This is for an '04 40th (basically the turbo/c4s front bumper) with litronic headlights.
My gasket is looking a bit beatup so I'd like to swap it out.
Thanks!
There are two parts shown in the factory parts manual within the BODY GROUP 8
One is listed as a cover, the second is listed as a bracket. They are black.
They are common to all 04/05 cars.
One of these looks like it could be a gasket, probably the one called cover.
996-505-741-02 left
996-505-742-02 right
996-505-741-01c l satin black
996-505-742-01c r satin black
Factory online manual will not let me save or copy.
Wow, that looks like it! I'll need to figure out which one I need for my car, but at least this looks like the right part.
I looked at my car this morning, and that piece is actually more of a "hard plastic" then I would say a gasket like material (not rubbery). So I think the numbers you gave me below are correct!
I'll figure out which one I need and report back! Thanks for the help on this!
One other thing I'm looking for. The "metal clips" inside the bumper that secures/holds the plastic bits to the bumper. Such as this part 996 505 563 01 that would be attached. There are a bunch of those "metal clips w/ teeth" on them. Anyone have a part number for that?
Yoda- did you wind up ordering the part? Where did you order from? Was it what you were looking for?

Called "Speed Nut" #999 507 072 02 (you should double check to make sure this is the item you are looking for)
Go to the factory Porsche web site in GB, there are parts manuals you can pull up for any year Porsche.
Cheers, Paul
Sorry, I haven't ordered the part yet. It does look like what I'm looking for. What I'm thinking is that I'll remove the bumper to compare the p/n. Waiting for the weather to really change so the car can "go into hibernation" from crappy weather.
Paul,
I just pulled up a picture of the "speed nut" and it's not what I'm looking for. The clip I'm looking for is more like a "set of teeth/dentures." You use it to hold onto plastic pieces such as

This piece attaches with these "jaw" like clips.
Hi Guys,
Reach out to 914rubber. They make replacement seals and other parts for us dual porschephiles. (996 and 914-6) He is working on replacement seals for the 996 headlamps. If you show interest he will possibly step up the process. The quality of the products he makes is extremely good and prices are reasonable.
I haven't done it yet, but it's on the "list of winter" projects. I've removed the front bumper before, but I don't recall if it's attached to the bumper or the headlight.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
