Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone. I'm completely new to the Porsche community. This past weekend I traded in my 2012 BMW 128i for a 2004 911 Carrera Cabriolet with PSE and full leather and only 15k miles on the clock. The car had full service history and was owned by an elderly couple. I paid $34.5k for the car which seemed like a good deal for the condition and mileage. I look forward to learning more about the car and working on it where I can. I already ordered the plastic cap mod from Niagara Plastics to block off the Hemholtz resonator in the intake. It should hopefully come this week. Also I live in Covington, KY so the greater Cincinnati area. If there are any local members I'm always up for meeting up.

POST 2Original post

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm sure I'm going to like it here. From reading so far it seems people here are much more knowledgeable and friendly than the BMW forum. I have uploaded a few pics of the new car. Enjoy!

POST 9Original post

Welcome to RL, Caleb... great looking car!! You will finds tons of excellent advice and help here. A few minutes ago, I just finished repairing my 996's climate control, thanks to the great advice of people here on RL. Cost me $67 in parts. I'm sure if I had taken it somewhere to have it fixed, I would have been looking at a bill for about $700. Also, I suggest paying for the membership here. The Off Topic forum is only available to members. In addition to the entertainment factor, it has saved me a pile of $$ too, from advice I've received there. Also, join your local PCA. I've made some great friends there, and also have received tons of help from the other members.

Congrats! Beautiful cabriolet! Midnight Blue Metallic?

POST 11Original post

Love the color combo. Untouched gem. Keep it that way. Originals, in my eyes, are much more appealing.

POST 12Original post

POST 13Original post

Sweet ride! Beautiful full leather interior...best of luck with it

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'm definitely loving the car so far. There really isn't a lot I want to change out on the car. I am considering changing the exhaust tips and am pondering powder coating the wheels black. Besides that I'm quite happy with appearance. From what I have read it doesn't seem like there are a lot of hp gains to be had modding the car so I may not do much mechanicaly. I think I probably do need to do a driver mod though to get the most out of the car. So I think a few professional driving classes would be a good idea.

That is where PCA can help. Your region sponsors Driver Education, DE, at area race tracks and Autocross events. http://kypca.org/

Great choice, enjoy the miles. The more you drive it the more you get your money's worth. The PCA driving schools will be a great way to explore the limits of the car and of yourself. And they have lots of other type of events as well. Since buying my 996 I've rediscovered the pleasure of washing and waxing my car...something I don't think I've done since the late eighties. As others will tell you, the search engine here is a powerful tool whenever you have a question.
