Maybe I'm just not a perfectionist because I lived on a dirt road for 90% of my life, but if the actual paint isn't chipped, don't spend thousands because swirls are inevitable if you ever have to clean your exterior.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I picked up my daughter from school today and came out and a little kid was throwing rocks around on the parking lot and one hit my passenger door. There is a chip in the paint, very small. You can't really see it from more than 3-4 feet away, but up close it looks kinda bad.
How bad until you worry about it/have something done.
Also, what can be done?
It is tough to see in the picture which is a function of both the cell phone camera and how small in diameter it is, but it is kinda deep.
I'm worried about bare metal being exposed. Might be something I have to take to someone in person. Here's the best I can do:

Just get any dupli-color touchup paint that matches. It's so small that it doesn't have to be an exact match.
Also the Porsche body is galvanized AND dipped in hot zinc bath so it's not likely to rust anytime soon.
FWIW, I've had a couple stone chips on my hood past the paint for the past 4 years and still looks the same.
OMG, that's tiny. Some of your guys are way too OCD.
I've used Dr Colorchip with success. If you see white primer, the product will cover it and you won't notice it. It isn't perfect but I'm sure it'll be enough.
...or before you litigate, try some touch-up. You'll never notice it again. Flat colors hide touch-up beautifully, and a little compound to take off the edge once it's fully dried will keep it from showing.
Get a fine hobby brush to apply, the brush that comes with the Porsche touch-up is way too big.
To be clear -- mom immediately apologized and offered to pay, in writing, for whatever needed to be done. I'm trying to determine if anything needs to be done.
Dr Color Chip. Works great. About $40 for a small kit. If there's a dimple/dent, do PDR first.
Sorry to say, but your paint is in awful shape. Full of swirls. Do/get a multi stage paint correction done. Your car will look amazing.

You'd have to get a correction every year if you balked at any swirl marks. Personally I wouldn't spend the money just to fix swirls in the clear coat. It happens. Maybe I'm just not a perfectionist because I lived on a dirt road for 90% of my life, but if the actual paint isn't chipped, don't spend thousands because swirls are inevitable if you ever have to clean your exterior. To each his own.
Chips are different though. Hope you get yours touched up the way you want it.
Swirls are part of life if your car is a daily driver, especially with the softer paint on the 996. I would get it polished prior to putting on a coating or sealant. Otherwise maybe once in awhile when it gets really bad or when you notice dirt sticking to your surface more easily.

I've tried Paint Scratch, Tower, and a couple others but these guys seemed the best to me. Turnaround can be slow depending on how backlogged they are though...
Order Dr. Colorchip. Then, that little ding will barely show.
Dr. Colorchip isn't quite the "magic" they make it seem in their ads, but I use it on my cars for the inevitable chips that show up.
I agree with John, though. Your car should be a good match for blood red. Just don't strangle the kid first.... you will want fully oxygenated blood to match that bright red paint.
Better fixed ASAP oil is going to start leaking from there
In a serious note, full detail, bring that hot red pain to the glorious day, if you have time in your hands follow the steps below. I don't think you need to paint the whole area at all.
