Do the Vclamps still require the use of the stock "sleeve clamp" w/ the dimples ?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello gents. Well I was in process of installing some muffler bypass on the 996 (just untill I get my fisker exhaust mod soon). Everything was surprisingly smooth . However iam not stuck on one exhaust clamp. Seems I have accidentally bend it out of round a bit and can't get the clamps closed enought for the bolts . What do you guys think would be the best step from here ..? The way I see it.. 1. Order some Fabspeed vclamp exhaust clamps. (If I can find them) 2. Go to autozone and try to find some vclamps (I would rather the Fabspeed ones but I cont find them inline) 3. Buy longer bolts and bolt it up as best I could (don't really like this idea, but just as a temp fix untill the vclamps arrive? Do the Vclamps still require the use of the stock "sleeve clamp" w/ the dimples ? Do I need to order another sleeve? What say you? Any help is appreciated.

POST 2Original post

I'd try longer bolts to help pull the clamps back into shape until you choose a better fix.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If I were to purchase the exhaust vclamps. Would I still need to use the metal sleeve? (the one in The pic that's bent) Or just slide the bypass over and clamp down ? I got one side one good. Just this stupid last side that's giving me an issue.

POST 4Original post

The part you're trying to attach is just a normal sleeve. Do you know what a v clamp actually does or looks like? That's for where the tips attach to the muffler. Just use longer bolts with lock washers and put some anti-seize on them and call it a day.
