Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I try to avoid crappy/rainy days, not for any reason other than I like to drive a clean car and the dirt and grime from wet roads look terrible on a black car.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Doing a ton of research before I purchase my 02-03 C4S or 02 Turbo. Still haven't decided if I'm going to drive it daily...anyway, please feel free to participate and leave feedback.
Drive it every day. Comfortable, reliable, and not too expensive. Any car these days costs 40k, the price of a Turbo... is not an exotic. It is made to be driven in Germany -> cold, rain, crappy weather. And, it works well in summer too. Plus those two choices, do not have the engine issues that the early 996 carreras encounter.
Lack of options on the poll.
Sometimes the 996, and others the P!g. Depends on distance, route, weather, and mood. But they are my only 2 options. I don't have winter tires yet for the 996, so cold days it sits at home.
Nice weather it's the 996, unless I need to haul some cargo.
I like to think that I daily drive my 996, when I leave the house I would say I drive the p-car 70-80% of the time. I still have a truck, SUV, and Sedan that occasionally get driven though. but even driving it 70% of the time I only put on 6000 miles a year approx. It also makes a difference that my daily commute going to school is only 3 miles.
Nope.
I don't drive it enough, probably around 3500 miles a year. It is fun to drive, but not good to take kids places, get groceries, deal with traffic, etc. Then a nice sunny day, top down, and an open road makes it all worthwhile.

I'm in SC now from NJ, a 700 mile trip each way, returning on Sunday. I drive it daily through winter with a full set of Blizzaks. Enjoying every minute.
I drive mine to work at least a couple days a week, and weekends. From early December to late April we have snow on the ground, so it gets a little less use.... I usually drive it a day after a big snowfall, but after all the roads have been plowed. I LOVE LOVE LOVE driving thing on snow covered roads!!!
Oddly, the times that I never drive it in the winter are when the roads are cleared, but wet and salty.
Although we get no snow, it does exceed 110 degrees a few days a year. I retired my 964 cab to weekend use after 10 years as a daily driver. I first bought a clk55 mercedes but it didn't have the porsche feel. I sold it and bought a 996. Great ride, a/c, power and the great steering/handling plus dirt cheap (excluding maintenance).
Wife and I work at the same building, so some days we carpool in her Nissan.
Days we don't, plus all weekend days, I drive the 996. It's not a museum piece, so why not rack up the miles? If I wanted a Porsche for lookin' at, I would have bought a scale model.
Your poll is flawed for those of us who daily drive but work close to home...
I live in Florida, bought it almost 3 months ago and I packed 2200 miles already driving only on weekends. I drive 25-27000 miles per year and drive to multiple places so at the end of the day is not about if is a weekend car or not I bet I put more miles per month than some daily drivers here.
Daily drive mine all year long.
When I got mine it had 124k miles on it, now sitting at 142k miles.
And that's in just over 14 months.
Nothing better than knowing you get to drive a Porsche everyday.
So buy and drive and most of all enjoy it for what it is, a Porsche.
One more thing if you get snow just put good snow tires on it and you should be fine.
Weekends, special occasions and random drives to work. I toggle between my beater, the boxster, my Ducati and the C4S. I look at it like this, the beater is sneakers for thrashing, while the 996 is a tuxedo. I drive whats appropriate for the situation.
I drive it primarily on the weekends, but I drove it daily for a month and a half straight cuz my commuter was in the shop [rear ended]. You
can
drive it daily but I prefer not to. The traffic, stupid drivers on their way to work, traffic lights left and right; you just don't get to enjoy the car.
Why the $%&@ was this three year old rather insipid thread revived????
Yeah, it's my DD. Except for the days I don't drive, or the days I drive one of my other cars.
I consider mine a daily driver although I voted no in the 5-7k mile category. I drive mine daily April thru November but usually leave it parked on rainy days. I typically drive it a little over 7k a year.
I try to avoid crappy/rainy days, not for any reason other than I like to drive a clean car and the dirt and grime from wet roads look terrible on a black car. I know I could just wash it but for the quick trips for errands I prefer to just take the SUV. Having said all that I've put 40k miles on it in 3 years (32k up to 72k).
Daily drive, I have 4 cars but I managed to put 11k on the 996 last year. It gets driven more than the others because it is not a convertible, it is safe to drive in rain or snow, it is comfortable and it performs.
