Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

"That is the question..." Misha is having a special for the SEMA conference on their products. $900 for the GTM2. I almost ready to pull the trigger and wanted to get peoples thoughts (advantages and disadvantages) on installing an aftermarket wing. http://misha911.com/porsche_996_C2.html So, for a narrow body with a AreoKit, turbo bumpers, seems like a nice upgrade. However, I read on some earlier forums that the car get a little squirrely at higher speeds with a wing. Thoughts and experiences?

POST 2Original post

The wing alone at speed may be an issue without the rockers and front air dam. Others will chime in. If you like the look, then that's all that really matters.

POST 3Original post

Just so I understand what year 911 and what model ? Your car already has a factory aero kit with turbo bumpers? I'm a little confused-and by the way ,barn is right on the money it's really what you like but the aero kit works the best when everything matches ,front bumper, and rockers, along with a splitter below the front bumper. Misha i'm sure a very well respected company I'm sure they'd be happy to talk to you about it as well.also the cost is prohibitive factory aero kits even used are plenty of money . good luck!!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine is a 99 C4. But a bunch of Gt3 parts were put on by the PO. Lowered on PSS-9, HR Sway, AP Drop links, GT3 interior including seats, and the list goes on...

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How about the Misha wing vs these guys? http://www.ebay.com/itm/996-Porsche-...-/121444927130

POST 6Original post

I have a 2000 C4 with factory aero less rear wing. I am also looking for the "right look" for my car. Right now I am leaning towards the GT3 RS wing. Go with what you like.

POST 7Original post

First let me say nice car, the previous owner even did the front facelift headlamps wow that's a lot of work anyway if your car is narrowbody then that eBay wing looks good but really that's the wing for the GT two there might be too much going on with your car just my opinion you need to think about a little bit ,cheers and good luck

POST 9Original post

If this is only for cosmetic purposes and you like it, then do it. At the same time, if it is only for cosmetic purposes and the addition does not reflect good engineering balance for the car, then you might find the addition creating a negative impression of you. Back when the turbos first came out and everyone was shoving whale tails on their cars, people discovered that it was an engineering negative unless the full Porsche package that went with it was also installed. I think the tail would distract from what is already a handsome looking car. And one has to ask why Porsche just didn't put them on all the cars to begin with.

POST 12Original post

saw your other thread asking about the Misha. sounds like you really like the Misha. buy the Misha

POST 13Original post

I had the Misha GTM Wing. Quality product and it looked good on a narrow body. I'd go with the GTM not the GT2M.

POST 14Original post

i'm not much of a fan of the big fixed rear wing. i feel is changes the already classic silhouette into something that should be on the track. when i bought my 993 c4s, it came with the turbo s rear wing. at first, i thought, bitchen! than i replaced it with the original rear lid and never looked back. i still have the turbo s rear spoiler sitting in the garage....collecting dust.

POST 15Original post

If you have the turbo front bumper you will be find adding a wing, especially if its just the gt2m style and not an RS style wing. I have the gt3rs style wing on mine and although I did a bumper at the same time I can tell a big difference when driving on normal roads.

POST 16Original post

I'm partial on this....oem all the way only for the being all pcar parts and resale value. As it stands now your car is not an GT3 Aero in it's current state so I'm not sure why you list it as one...sorry for being blunt but just sayin'...

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car is new to me (1.5 month old) and that was how the previous owner called it. I recently realized that the Turbo bumper and GT3 bumpers are different.

POST 18Original post

Do what makes YOU happy. The car is a Frankenstein already so it really doesn't matter what wing you put on there, if any. The most important thing is that you don't have rusty lug nuts so that your car will continue looking good.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am not really trying to keep it oem from an investment point. I don't think these will appreciate much near term (just hoping we are near the bottom of the price curve). I will be lucky not to lose much money when I sell it. I just want to do some tasteful mods and make the car look nice. I like having a wing but not really sure which one or style looks best. I thought I liked the taco wing earlier but not sure now...

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Now for my 951. That is all original and I have owned that for 24 years. Not much appreciation there either... Lol

POST 21Original post

IMHO, I think they look a bit unbalanced with a big front spoiler, side skirts, and no tail. With side skirts and that front bumper a tail really balances it out appearance wise.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Kinda of how I feel, too.

POST 23Original post

Heh. Anyone (and I'm not suggesting anyone posting on this thread falls into this category) who does/doesn't modify their 996 because they're worried about affecting resale value is a f**kstick. A stock 996 is a blank canvas. Have some fun.

POST 24Original post

I have installed the wing by Misha you are inquiring, about a year ago. I am very happy the way it turned out. It is by far the cheapest out there and at that price you are getting over 30% off the regular price. Mine required quite a bit of prep so painting costs might be a bit more than other wings out there but not that much more. I came close to breaking the sound barrier a few times, and still my car turned when i turned the steering wheel, so no issues with my car turning into a cessna. Unfortunately i only have these pictures that i took after i installed it.

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11746965

The reason I was going with the Misha was my understanding that there was minimal prep but you seem to indicate otherwise. That said, this one looks similar and cheaper. http://www.ebay.com/itm/996-Porsche-...-/121444927130

POST 26Original post

To be honest with you bud, i think that is identical to Misha GT2M wing just like the one on my car. They may be using the same mold, cause i honestly don't see the difference at all. But it definitely isn't a copy of a GT2 wing. GT2 is different. Looking at the installation video, the only difference is that Misha comes with holes pre-drilled.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Which wing is that?

POST 30Original post

996 gt3 wing.... I love that wing. I want to get that blade so I can alternate between that and my RS version... disregard my ghetto rigging of the exhaust hanger haha.

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 11746537

There are great tasteful mods that add to the value of the car and there are Honda ricer mods that detract. A bigass wing is the latter unless it's on a GT3RS. Tell me which car is worth more and will sell faster....most people that buy cobbled together or riced up pcars are unsuspecting buyers that have been mislead. Just my opinion.....

POST 32Original post

I say wing it if that's what you want to do. Just keep the OEM parts if you are concerned with resale. The car isn't really going to be worth more sitting stock anyway. It's just not that type of Porsche. If you do put the wing on just make sure you balance out the front. I noticed my front end was light at higher speeds after adding the exta downforce in the back. Easy add on though. Be sure to post a pic when you decide on the wing!

You can always keep you factory parts for when it comes time to sell.
