Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also replaced the head unit with one that runs android, so I get all the cool dials directly there.

I have a similar setup, but use a phablet called ZTE ZMAX, available for 250$ from T-Mobile.

I have it loaded with MP3, and I picked up a new low-profile Bluetooth OBDII transmitter for use with Torque.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I wound up with an extra Dell Streak 7" tablet, so I cobbled together a solution for it to work with the Ram Mount I already have in the 996 for my iPhone. I have it loaded with MP3, and I picked up a new low-profile Bluetooth OBDII transmitter for use with Torque. It's pretty handy. I'll give it a week or two to decide if it's staying before I wire up a semi-permanent charging solution...
The new OBDII transmitter also has a power button, which is kind of handy. I was too cheap to spring for one of the even better versions that have auto power on/off...
I got same OBDII but in WiFi and use it with DashCommand and my iPhone 6. Works pretty well wish they had iOS version of Torque I hear it if very well done.
Little trick I did to keep OBDII installed and ready to go without worrying about draining the battery. I bought a low profile OBD extension cable like this

I then found which wire on the extension cable connected to the power source, and cut that one. I then spliced that cut wire to the radio power under the center console so that it only powers on when ignition is on. The scanner is safely under the center console attached with twist ties. I've had it hooked up for about a year now without any problems.
I also replaced the head unit with one that runs android, so I get all the cool dials directly there.
FYI - the scanner I bought was supposed to automatically power off, but the light always stayed on, and I once came to a dead battery which I'm assuming was caused by this.
I have a similar setup, but use a phablet called ZTE ZMAX, available for 250$ from T-Mobile. It has a 5.7 inch display, 4G LTE and 5GB of data available. It connects to my OBD reader via wifi and to the HU vi BT. This way I can run Torque, stream Spotify, take calls (regular, Skype, Messenger) and can temporarily substitute for my iPad. The screen is large and bright enough for my aging eyes. It has Dolby Sound which is a nice feature. Oh, it is also my navigation system. Not the fanciest and fastest phone but absolute perfect for my purposes. And provides a hotspot, similar to the ones available in modern cars such as wife's audi (which is a rip off by ATT, 5GB of data per YEAR!).
