Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, My engine, 2004 C4S , was out and reinstalled by the shop. Now my shifter is sloppy. 1st gear can be found in the normal position , it also can be found by moving the stick all the way left against the wall and moved forward. This left travel against the wall is too far left, it's not right. Somehow it passes the stop point or gate. It feels real odd too. I can downshift into 2nd and hit 4th gear sometimes The shop did try to re aline the shifter using the centering tool, but it did not fix it. Any ideas ? I need to ask them if they had the transmission end cables were installed in the neutral position . This is sorta hard to explain, ask me questions if you have any... Thanks for the help The shop mentioned that he cables may be stretched , kinda odd cause it was perfect when I dropped the car off.

POST 2Original post

There's no reason the shifter should have been touched. I bet a cable popped off or was not re-attached on the transmission.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, the weird thing is that it can shift fine , but the H pattern seems to move right and left.

I so totally agree with this. You are going to have to make sure the shift cables are securely attached to the transmission. Nothing else makes sense.
