Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Usually when the electrical gremlins start, and you have checked all of the fuses, it is either the light switch or ignition switch, or both.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, my 2004 996 cab was fine until yesterday. For no reason I can think of, my rear license plate light, and illumination of my instrument cluster, center console as well as the illumination of the convertible switch, psm, climate control and door lock switches went out. I checked and replaced the fuse (Row A, #5), to no avail. All other lights and operation of the radio and convertible itself is fine. The climate control works fine, it's just the buttons aren't illuminated. The LCD display on the instrument panel works fine. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Usually when the electrical gremlins start, and you have checked all of the fuses, it is either the light switch or ignition switch, or both. That's my best guess....
