Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

it it correct that once manual mode is selected, the TCU embedded programs are shut off and sole changing function is by the shifter buttons? Are any other parameters changed in this mode? Thanks Peter

POST 2Original post

I'm not sure what you're asking, but the Tip, in manual mode, will upshift automatically just before redline, It will also downshift as you slow down to prevent lugging,

POST 3Original post

That's what makes the Tip such a great transmission! Shifts faster than a manual, can't overrev and it thinks for you even when you don't!

POST 4Original post

The TCU also undertakes a search of all internet car forums to see if the driver has ever made a disparaging remark about the Tiptronic and then sends a small voltage to the shift lever to alert the driver to immediately stop such behaviors.

Concur, I have a 03 C2 Tip.

^^ This, but one has to manually (press the button) put it in 1st at a full stop. It only downshifts to 2nd. No big deal.

POST 7Original post

Yes it starts in second. The funny thing is that it starts out in first after you back up. At least mine does. (MK-I)
