This is not a probability of success.

Well, I have all the required equipment(AC recover machine, recovery tanks, multiple gauges) but I do LOTS of AC repair.(Yes I have my EPA 609 certification)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, My AC has slowly become worse and worse (over a few years). It stopped blowing any cold at all. I added some R134 using one of those fillers and now it blows cold. However, I started at 30psi but had to fill it to 40-45psi in order to get some cold. This was with an outside temp of 85 F. Could this just be the pressure gauge being off or does 996s require higher pressure than other cars? Seems like 30psi should be enough. Or is something else wrong? thanks

POST 2Original post

It is ambient temperature dependent. At 85degF you should target 45-55psi Low-side and 225-250psi High-side You really need some gauges that measure high and low to do it correctly. A lot of consumer freon low-side only gauge/freon stuff says to add until 35psi, but that's only good for 70-75deg.

oh thanks! Is there a table or something that I should refer to? I just followed the instructions on the Bottle. Worth investing in a proper gauge setup? Or should I just be happy with it working now. I am fine with having a slow slow slow leak, cheaper to fill it up than to to have someone fix it....

Yes, I have a chart on my wall. Let me check and see where I found it, or I'll post a photo of it. Well, I have all the required equipment(AC recover machine, recovery tanks, multiple gauges) but I do LOTS of AC repair.(Yes I have my EPA 609 certification) I've already done 6 system repairs so far this year even with COVID. But cheap gauges are available from Harbor Freight (really good gauges BTW) or Amazon. You'll need a can tap for the gauges, but they're cheap on Amazon too.
