Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
If it is a drip near the front OF THE left rear tire it is probably the AOS.
Leading evidence: 'air oil separator' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'air oil separator' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check oil filler tube' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Try cleaning both and checking your oil filler pipe for cracks.

I recommend this for when an engine is exhibiting abnormal behavior I'm reluctant to advise a course of action that has the owner running the engine any more than absolutely necessary.

A cracked AOS will leak coolant and will make the car run poorly.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Car started rough today after driving. feels down on power. came home let it sit, started again and it hunted idle for a few seconds. look under back of car and see a drop of something...it is coolant. hose under car looks like it is leaking.
Would these two things...could these two things have anything in common?
Maybe.
The 996 AOS (air/oil separator) is well known for failing and some of the symptoms of it failing are as you describe. Also, since the AOS is part of the engine's cooling system a coolant leak is just another part of the AOS's failure mode.
Unfortunately, the engine's behavior doesn't have to be from a failing AOS. The engine's behavior can be from something else.
And likewise the coolant leak doesn't have to be from the AOS.The coolant leak can be from something else.
A close/careful inspection of the the AOS and other areas of the engine that can leak coolant can probably confirm the leak is from the AOS or from some other place.
You need to get the car to a qualified Porsche shop and have the source of this behavior diagnosed. I recommend this for when an engine is exhibiting abnormal behavior I'm reluctant to advise a course of action that has the owner running the engine any more than absolutely necessary. Anytime the engine is run it should be done under the eyes of an experienced tech who is capable of making the correct diagnosis.
A cracked AOS will leak coolant and will make the car run poorly. Depends on where the drip is...back of engine near belt is usually water pump or hose connections. If it is a drip near the front OF THE left rear tire it is probably the AOS. Find out where the leak is and you might find your problem. However, vacuum leak comes to mind as well as a fouled MAF or throttle body. Try cleaning both and checking your oil filler pipe for cracks. BTW...no CEL? If there is there will be a fault code and that might help with diagnosis.

Crawled up under car. Leak is at the hose connected to thermostat... Having issues with clutch/tranny as well so I just dropped it off at Brumos Porsche. Sad thing is that I travel all next week and won't see it for a while. Hoping a second mortgage isn't coming my way. Had the ppi done at Harry dogs and they said the car was 100 percent perfect. They did the IMS as well, and something back there isn't right. We shall we. Thanks!
I suppose you never had a home inspection before? That is what a PPI is a lot like. Plus I think we're beginning to see a trend on getting PPI's at places with names that don't really relate to Porsche like "Harry dogs, Courtney's Trucking, etc..."
Harry dogs garage is actually a pretty reputable place in CT in the Pcar world...and my point was...ah he'll I don't know my point ...it don't matter. My car is injured. This sucks.
Relax. Avoid making any hasty decisions.
The PPI was probably thorough and the car was ok then. It doesn't take long for something to go amiss and generally one doesn't get a whole lot of forewarning.
As I have pointed out, my car's water pump was just fine for 172K miles and years and years of service until one day it wasn't fine. Same for the coolant tank at 220K miles. Fuel pump at 200K miles. VarioCam solenoid/actuator. And don't ask me about my Turbo and its tendency to manifest issues out of the blue.
AOS's fail with little to no warning. By the time the engine manifests any symptoms the thing's bad. (I just had the 4th AOS installed in my Boxster. The engine was just fine on a drive of 10 miles or so until a few blocks from my destination the road behind the car was hidden behind an oil cloud. Just like that an AOS with around 100K miles on it went from good to bad.)
Either the AOS is causing the engine's feeling of being flat or it is not.
You'll know soon enough.
Besides a bad IMSB or a botched installation of an aftermarket replacement there are many things to explain a vague diagnosis that something is not right back there.
Something else to brighten your outlook: If the shop you used has any reputation worthy of the name if it botched the job it will make things right.
I was just messing with you.
Good thing is you took it to Brumos so you should be all good. And since you'll be traveling, that's a perfect time to get her fixed so it's ready to go when you get back. Better that coolant is leaking instead of oil.
Car is at shop. Pulling tranny. They are thinking either clutch or flywheel or pressure plate. Could be a simple as something wasnt torqued correctly when ims was done or could be a while lot worse...more to come
