Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Sometimes while initially it is claimed the IMSB was done it turns out that just the IMS end flange was replaced which is not the same thing.
Leading evidence: 'Replace which is not the same thing' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace which is not the same thing' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello. First post here, so forgive my ignorance. I haven't fulfilled my boyhood dream of acquiring my first 911 as of yet (came close in 2005 with a couple of 993's), but I'm determined within the next 2 years. Just sold my 2001 BMW 530i E39.
I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this example for sale in the link below. Good price? Have 996 C4S's really dropped this far in value? I worked as a service advisor in an auto group that included a Porsche dealership (I worked for Acura) back in 2005, and C4S's were thought of as the one model that would hold up well in residual value for the future. Note that the IMS bearing has been done.

Based just on the info in the add in your link, looks like a good car. Yep, the prices have dropped that much. I'm sure you could even find a similar one cheaper. But, if it is true that this car had all of the maintenance listed, that's great. (be sure it can be verified). I bet you can still get another $1,000 off of that asking price.
It has typical heavy driver's side bolster wear. I'd use that in negotiation. You can get the seat recovered for about $600 or so.
What are the fingers pointing at in the tail light pix?... are those cracks? If so, very odd, and I would do some probing to find out why.
I bought a C2 in June, after a careful ~6 month search. This price does not look out of line to me, especially if the service and condition check out.
Great color, and not especially common.
I think that's a fair price...I got my 4s several months ago.socal ..32k out the door...03...59k miles...from porsche dealer...and mine also had those cracks in both tails...bugged at first but then u get used to it lol...like color too!

This one been on clist for a little and has dropped price over last 2 months...maybe can check it out and see if can get for cheaper...
Car looks good in the pics.
I am not current on market prices for these cars.
About the iMSB upgrade... I'd like to know who did the IMSB upgrade and when and what flavor of upgrade. (I didn't bother to read the full description of the car so if this is covered, never mind.)
Sometimes while initially it is claimed the IMSB was done it turns out that just the IMS end flange was replaced which is not the same thing.
A couple of apparently nice C4Ss sold recently for well under $20k. Both had just over 100k miles but otherwise looked to be very nice cars.

Thanks for all the input.
The blue doesn't really do it for me, but it is unique. I wasn't really considering this example, just curious about the price. It appears someone grabbed it already.
