Thank goodness I replaced the alternator and AOS recently.

I did a temporary fix (2 or 3 years ago) with a piece of rubber pipe coupling and two radiator clamps from the hardware store. I have the replacement part on hand but haven't gotten around to it yet. Any day now.
When mine cracked open (a lot like yours) I ordered a new filler pipe and wrapped the old one with some duct tape pretty far up and down from the crack. It held up okay for the week it took me to get the new one. Kinda ghetto, but it worked long enough.
A coolant tank replacement quickly turned into
1. Filler tube replace.
2. Water pump
3. Low temp thermostat
4. Coolant tank
5. Coolant flush
No need to drive the car for a week so I�ll wait for the new filler tube. Thank goodness I replaced the alternator and AOS recently. That experience helped removal of coolant tank and filler tube a breeze. I wager the water pump will require a learning curve though. It�s a nice weekend for car projects.
Also thinking the filler tube had a minor crack before this split and might even have caused the idle �shiver�. We shall see.
