Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a lightweight flywheel fitted, albeit a different brand, and have had zero issues, granted I had mine dynamically balance to the crank, as it was during a rebuild, however I know many who have fitted without balancing and have not had issues.
Leading evidence: 'Install without balancing and have not had issues' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install without balancing and have not had issues' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Take that away and you run the risk of cracking your crankshaft.

Suggestion
Then why do you need to use more throttle when getting it going from a standstill?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I recently purchased a Fidanza lightweight flywheel and when I tried to install it yesterday the oem flywheel bolts are not long enough to go through the flywheel. Has anyone seen this before and if so what are the appropriate bolts for this flywheel?
You do know that a lightweight flywheel is not recommended for our cars? I would go back to the vendor where you got the flywheel and have them supply the correct length flywheel bolts. They are a one time use.
Now as far as the lightweight flywheel - the dual mass OE flywheel is there to dampen harmonics from the crankshaft. Take that away and you run the risk of cracking your crankshaft. There are better and more knowledgeable engine builders on here that could weigh in.
I have a lightweight flywheel fitted, albeit a different brand, and have had zero issues, granted I had mine dynamically balance to the crank, as it was during a rebuild, however I know many who have fitted without balancing and have not had issues. - Its like IMSB, one failure and its a black mark mod.
The 996 has a long unsupported section of crank that the flywheel hangs off, reducing the weight on this section from circa 13kg to 6kg is seen by many as advantageous.
It does not make the car less drivable and the only noticeable difference in noise is at tick over.
You will need M10 x 1mm Bolts of a 12.9 Grade, I cant comment on the length as this will be specific to the flywheel.
2nd it not being worth the hassle. My 99 had one. Even though I had no issues with the crank, it was easy to stall the car taking off in first gear. Theres just very little momentum at low revs. My car didnt seem any quicker than any other 996.1. The stock flywheel in my 02 is much better. Have never come close to stalling it.
Further to what everyone is saying with the LWFW I remember the rear wheels breaking traction a bit - not what you want as well as the terrible rattling noise it would make in neutral I'd often have to hold in the clutch to prevent that awful noise.
Just don't do it - thank us later. Or do it then go back and re-install the original and tell us we were right later... But it's your car
