Solid mechanically but desperately need a full detail to clean off the paint after 18 years of being parked outside (and still parked outside).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone, I am a new owner of a 996 and I was wondering if there is a community of owner in the Miami area. I am located in West Miami / Doral area. I am looking for people to go drive with (where are the nice roads around Miami?), discuss, exchange tips, etc. I am not limited to 996 owners of course ! As background I just picked up a 02 996 manual coupe (black with Savannah beige full leather), with 102k miles from GA. Previous owner had it since 07 and did a lot of its own maintenance. Once I got it, I had Vertex do: Water Pump, Thermostat, Coolant flush, IMS (EPS eternal upgrade with oil feed), RMS, AOS, upgrated clutch (EPS) and oil change. Solid mechanically but desperately need a full detail to clean off the paint after 18 years of being parked outside (and still parked outside).

Join your local PCA, great way to meet other owners. Enjoy the new car, detailing can do wonders.

POST 3Original post

^^++what he said. When you join PCA you also are linked to your local chapter. All kinds of good information, good people, drives and sporting events. Go to PCA and join the club. https://www.pca.org/

POST 4Original post

Nice car! PCA is an option. We used to have a local RL group that did drives and GTGs, but interest dwindled. Check out the regional forum (I worked with John to set that up many moons ago) Feel free to suggest a GTG; I'm game. We used to do an annual drive to Islamorada and monthly GTGs at Hooters. .

POST 5Original post

Welcome, we are neighbors. Nice roads around Miami are hard to come, but there are many nice roads a bit further north. Look up Snake Road, is off 75 a few miles west of the toll plaza, you can drive to Ft. Myers using the back roads and many of them are very nice.

POST 6Original post

Welcome to 996 ownership hope you enjoy the ride, if you ever get interested in coming over to Sebring for an event let me know. Rich

I will join the PCA. I got the car right in the middle of the pandemic and most PCA meets got cancelled, that's why I was waiting.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can you send me a link to the regional forum? I will be down to drive around a little during the weekends.

Thanks for the advise, I will check it out. The day I got the car I drove it from Savannah to Miami and did most of the way on A1A which was fun.
