Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently I've seen after-market front bumpers for sale with DSL's that look similar to those used on 997's. Are these genuine Porsche parts for a 997, or are these made by a third-party? Anyone know what they cost?

POST 2Original post

search DRL - a few people have done stuff with it - esp in Canada

POST 3Original post

There's a wiring hack that is done in the fuse box, go to this website for instructions, I did it to pass the Canadian import inspection but then removed it, but it did work and was easy http://www.whiteson.org/boxster/mods/drl/

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've read all of the DSL mods. I'm talking about 997-style DSLs, not the kind that are everywhere on Ebay or in Autozone, and not doing the mod to make your parking lights work as DSL. Similar to the ones shown here: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...r-quality.html

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm on the fence, but I do like the way it looks on a 997 and I like the safety factor.

POST 7Original post

Driving with your headlights on during the day would accomplish your goal and it wouldn't cost anything. What am I missing?

He is after the "pimp-my-ride" lookin LED's on all the new cars.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow, such emotional responses. I didn't realize these cars were sacred relics. People modify their 996's with all manner of aftermarket wings, bumpers, decals, taillights and more, but DSL's cross the line? I'm confused.

POST 10Original post

It's not a matter of "sacred relics" It's just a matter of "personal taste" The key word is personal Just about all of the LED solutions on a 996 that I have seen look tacked on. And yes, we are an emotional bunch

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's funny because I tend to prefer understated (stock) to heavily modified cars, even if those mods are from the factory, but the DSL's that are on all new Porsches appeal to me.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow, really, really nice! There is nothing that I don't love about your car, except that it's not mine.

POST 15Original post

then there is Sid he "does/did it right" except he needs a haircut

POST 16Original post

I believe that techart makes LED DRLs for the 996 that function the same way as OEM lights (when you activate the turn signal, the LED on that side goes off, and they don't come on when the headlights are on). I think they are pretty expensive though...

POST 17Original post

I like the look....now ad some scoops on the air deflector vanes of the bumper, like the GT3 RS 4.0....an I'd be sold. LOL....I meant....add the air deflector scoops on the bumper...no scoops! haha

Funny!! Used to feel the same way... Thank you, thank you, thank you.... Actually I almost lost a bet and was thisssss close to walking around with a Mohawk Thank god I cheat !!! PICTURES!!!

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, after a couple of years of looking for DRLs that would look good on my MKi C2 Cab, I finally added these. I ordered several sets over the years and returned them all. I ended up fabricating my own brackets out of aluminum. The lights are recessed in the grill and are barely noticeable when off. This picture doesn't do them justice as they are very bright, like those on new Porsches and Mercedes. I'm very happy with the look and I don't think they look tacked on.

YOUR OPINION......essentially all that matters

POST 21Original post

Where did you end up wiring these from? I bought the wicked 997 conversion bumper with the OEM 997 LEDs in it. So I have to figure out where to wire these off of.
