Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check printouts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check printouts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I'll check the specs tomorrow and give you the rear toe

I know there is no way I can run past 38psi on my gt3 co's without the rear dancing around for example.

And some also run those to try to make up for their soft suspensions.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Pardon me if I've posted about a topic previously discussed, I'm still a newbie
Just wondering what people are getting for rear tire life on 295/30/18 PS2s
Just replaced mine again after 7000km
Insides worn down to carcass
Running factory acceptable alignment
About -1.2 camber in rear
It depends on the tire and on your driving style in addition to alignment and camber settings. Are you driving on the track or only on the street? Do you do mostly highway driving, or are there some curvy roads in your normal drives? Do you push the car hard?
With N spec tires, I was generally seeing about 7,000 miles out of a set of rear tires and about 14,000 miles out of a set of front tires.
Tires are N3
Normal city driving probably more straight than curves
Alignment per spec
Not during aggressive enough maybe
to straighten out the tire patch in the corners and wear them out more evenly on the rest of the tread
I got 7000km
That's like 4500 miles
What spec is your rear toe set at?
What brand/model are your tires?
What pressures do you run?
Two things people do to get more life out of the rears:
Increase rear toe and/or decrease rear tire pressures.
People often overlook the 36/44 pressures which are actually spec'd for a fully loaded car. And some also run those to try to make up for their soft suspensions.
Do as you wish but maybe try experimenting with tire pressures. I know there is no way I can run past 38psi on my gt3 co's without the rear dancing around for example.
As for rear toe, not a whole lot you can do unless you get adj toe links but the alignment place may be able to coax a bit more out of it.
I have gone through 3 sets of rear tires. Two were PS2s and the last was a PSS. The PSS have lasted longer (over 30K km) but I still managed to get 25K km on my PS2s. Obviously I run them until they are at the wear bars.
I drive the back roads as spirited as feasible and use the tires for several track days a year. I push the car hard and am thankful that my car has PSM. But sadly the majority of the miles are still in a straight line due to mostly-boring Ontario roads.
I usually run ~38psi on the rear tires and ask my alignment guy to maximum toe but within the 996 specs.
No experience with the PS2's on my AWD Turbo but with other brands -- N-rated -- I have managed to get over 20K miles from the rears, and double that from the fronts.
You have to be careful about "factory alignment". There is some differences of opinion as to just what this means. I must dig out some of my alignment printouts and post what numbers I have found deliver exceptional tire life. While the numbers are factory they involve less toe in at the rear then some techs seem to favor.
Lots of toe will have the rears gone in practically no time. While I do not have the numbers at hand the worst alignment -- "factory" done at a dealer but with no printout (which in my experience always is a precursor to shorter tire life) -- had the rear tires gone in around 8K miles. The best was around 23K miles and the tires had more life but one tire picked up a nail. I had road hazard coverage and believe it or not the tires had 3mm of tread left which qualified the one tire for free replacement. I had to of course pay for the other tire.
So I'll try setting rears at 39psi
anyone have suggested rear toe settings?
How about camber?
I'd like to get it aligned better to maximize new tire life
If I could get 12-20k km on a set of rears that would be ideal
I have RSS rear adjustable dog bones and toe steer kit on order
this should allow for more adjustment
Mine did the same. Needed to have the alignment redone. Stock is way to aggressive in camber and too much toe safety for daily driving. There is plenty that can be dialed out on a stock setup which will help with wear. Once you lower it, it will be harder to dial the camber but it can be dialed out some. Camber plays only a small role in wear, toe is usually the killer. Having more negative toe provides more stable straight speed, where less toe will make the car less stable when going straight.
Alignment done
Less camber and fixed front and rear toe
Fingers crossed I'll get more than 7k km out of this set
Though soon switching to winters so it will be next summer/fall when I find out
Checked the printouts
Rear toe is now 0.20 was 0.1
Rear camber is now -1.4 was -1.2 and -1.7
Front toe is now 0.06 was 0.02
Front camber is now -0.6 was -0.02
