POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I love my car. Besides the attention and the fanfare I have to admit that owning a 911 is a self-satisfying experience. Im not sure if its the leather all around or the smell of German engineering, it could be the engine sound. But their something special about this car. Maybe the bucket list accomplishment realizing that it took 60 years to acquire my dream car. The way people stare at you and talk behind your back. Their goes the owner of the Porsche 911. They look at you like if you were from another planet. They think you got money coming out your ears. I dont care if they think Im part of the 1% club. I just care about my driving satisfaction. The way it corners, the accelerating excitement. The shift changing into a black whole. The rite of passage. Having the engine in the rear, spoilers galore, fat tires, and the nose bleed. Slipping into a cocoon and coming out a race car driver. I reminisce my Army days living in Germany. When the all mighty 911 roam through the European streets. Making sounds that resonated between the buildings. Waking up all the night crawlers in its path. Ah the feeling of victory. I love my car.

Do you have an upgraded exhaust? If you don't, get one to even enhance the experience even more. Instant Boner guaranteed! LOL

Very satisfying to read the OP. I like the night crawler comment.

I completely agree with jrosa55. These cars are wonderful. Driving it just makes me feel good. It is a pure joy to drive. Mine is my daily driver and I honestly wish I lived farther away from work now! Agreed. I have the older model Fabspeed exhaust and it is nice! From what I've heard, they have re-engineered them to be quieter. Honestly it's bit loud and has a drone at times, but when I really get on it, it sounds like it belongs on a race track....as it does...

POST 6Original post

I often suspect the people here who complain about their Porsches don't remember driving lesser cars. By "lesser," I mean stuff like domestic economy cars. I drove a Ford Tempo 4-door sh!tbox for several years, and if there's something that will make you appreciate German engineering - even if some of the interior materials aren't suede-lined - it's driving a TRUE sh!tbox with a lousy, gutless motor, a screaming 3-speed slushbox, numb steering connected to front-wheel-drive, and crappy brakes with drums in the back. The 996 was hailed as a remarkable car when it was released, and I still think it's noteworthy. My 996 ('99 with MKII aero) is one of the most beautiful cars I've seen. After walking up and down the Porsche corral at the races last weekend, I couldn't point at any car and say, "That one. I would rather own THAT than my 911." The 996 is awesome. It's amazing, even without "considering the price" tacked on. When you actually do consider what you can buy these cars for...wow. Glad to hear you're enjoying your car. Not a day goes by where I don't consider myself fortunate to have acquired my 996.

POST 8Original post

It is nice to hear you are enjoying your new 996! I grew up in Boulder Colorado and used to go skiing every weekend and loved seeing all the 911’s with ski racks headed up the mountain. I later settled for a 944 turbo which was a very fun car but I always wanted a 911. I finally purchased my ’99 in April and have loved every minute of it. I think the 996 is the best car for the money by far as long as you get a decent one and are willing to maintain it. Good luck with your new P-Car!

Glad to hear positive comments at least once a month, I'm tired to see the IMS thread everywhere, even though there is a special IMS exclusive thread, always someone, make a new one.

POST 11Original post

Jrosa55 she is a beauty glad your enjoying her as much as most of us enjoy ours. Today the offices' blacktop was being re-sealed...I didn't get the email other wise I would have drove the s8. I had to park on the grass, where not talking nice smooth grass like a green or something, where talking they laid seed down over some weeds and after a decade it looks more grassy...no tilling whatsoever. Anyways driving onto the grass I hear crunch and know its my lower splitter...damn I think what a way to start the work day. I've taken too steep of curves before, hills, etc and scuffed the bottom. Today all but 3 screws where still connected. I just popped everything back in and admired the lines of the aero bumper, ROCK CHIPS and All and boy do I have chips. After I had to go to the post office (9pm literally just got back) to drop off mail. Then I went for a long *Spirited cough cough* drive through the country. The last 3 miles I drove like a granny to cool it off nicely but its those moments, near redline, the exhaust screaming, the digital spedo increasing, then bam clutch in, shift, clutch out, keep accelerating. Come up to a turn 300 feet ahead press firm on the brakes, clutch in, blip the throttle, shift into 4th, then again into 3rd, then right before the turn, again to 2nd, getting the rpms around 4.5 and punch through the apex. Those are the moments I love most, not the gawkers, being able to say I have a 911, etc (actually try to keep very low key)...the second best moments are seeing a young boy pull on his parents shirt and point, or just smile ear to ear, I almost always down shift -if I can safely, so they can hear the music. I'm not condoning wreakless driving or speeding, but boy oh boy in those moments down some smooth country roads , its quite an experience.

Wow, I imagined every bit of your story. We need more stories like this one. I like to hear the different sensations from other people amour-ed with this time machine. I have to admit that I've never heard of a Porsche being put to pasture. Yesterday I drove my winter car to work. I don't want to put to much mileage on my chariot. I'm only 12 miles away on the straight shot on the freeway. Boring. Is very difficult leaving her behind like that. I wonder what she was thinking. Oh so you prefer that 2000 Pontiac Grand AM GT over me? She says. When I got home the wife wasn't home. YES! So I started her up and talked to her while she was getting hot, I mean warming up. Oh! so know you want some of this? Give up Mami Shula. I sure do. Went down a country road just like you. Just cruising and absorbing the moment. I had a bad *** old school Camaro behind me all the time. He was also in a cruising state. I'm believing in reincarnation now. I can swear that those horses have a human soul. The way they look into my eyes. It felt like a human was inside of them. They were talking to me. Please take me with you down this curvy road. I want to feel like a human once more. Just one time, that is all I ask. The chariot came with a JL Audio and Hertz custom system that rocks. I get transported into nirvana every time I ride her. The saga continues.

I hear you bro. When I started my hunt for the first 996, I was prettified when I read the IMS thread. It reminded me of the movie with Arnold going into the forest and seeing all the bodies hanging from trees. The message was clear, if you go down this path you will pay. So I took it as a challenge. Just like my wife when I first met her. She was always surrounded by guys trying to get a piece of that. One by one I eliminated them until I got my message across. 38 years later she is still here. That I don't understand. Once a month?? You better turn to another channel because I going to tell the whole world of all my experiences courting this girl and all its rumblings, suffering, pain and happiness. Ok Mami ,are you ready for a massage. I got you some leather conditioner. I'm going to make your toes curl.

OH! so you want a bubble bath also. What? Concentrate on the ears, did I just heard you right. Let me summaries this. I just got you a couple of weeks ago for the first time and now you want me to clean your ears too? Well that's going to cost you. Lets start with never, I said never squirt oil from your, you know where. Keep your bearings lubed at all times. If you find that you can't control them let me know in advance by squirting a bit of oil or place a tad of metal fillings onto that magnate oil plug I just stuck up your P hole last week. Also when I shift that metal staff into you innards I don't want to hear any grinding or complaints. One last request, When I tell you to stop, you stop on a dime without wiggling your sweet *** all over the place. Thank you very much. OK, so were is that bubble bath bottle when you need one?

So I'm seating in my car after the wife left to church. Thinking to myself what to do. Thoughts of me dusting her off, maybe splashing her with tire dressing or maybe clean between the ears. Looking under her body. I just sat down and loaded the CD magazine with some nice Latin Jazz. Just me and her absorbing the moment. Sometimes you need to disconnect to connect. Just there admiring my car. Checking her out. Oh, she's so sexy! That vivid Boxster red leather interior. The black leather headliner. Wow maybe I should paint it simulating a dark night full with blinking stars with s streaking comet. Maybe a alien spaceship in the back ground. Just sitting there massaging the leather dash, admiring her glowing in the garage. Looking at every corner. Touching all her crevices. Just sitting there listening to the trumpets and conga beat. OMG one of my Vietnamese dolls sprung a leak and is flying like a rocket through out the garage and lands on my windshield face and chest first. She is talking to me saying the same thing over and over. Me so xxrny, me doing long time, Me so xxrny, me do it long time. OK, precious I have to go and take care of business. Get ready for tomorrow. We going downtown to pick up your new M030 legs. Go out and landed one on her cheek. Hasta manana baby

Medevack1 you crazy. What meds do you intake. Thanks for keeping it real. I had a dream during lunch break. I saw myself getting out my car deja vu style. The more I tried to get out of my reoccurring dream the more slowly the dream played out. I can feel my arm lifting and my hand reaching to grab the door ***. Open door close door open door. I felt like someone was tipping me on my shoulder trying to wake me up. Sleeping , awake and look at door. Them open door. There was a subtle whisper when I looked at the door. I tried to understand what someone or something was trying to tell me . Finally I understood the voices. The door was talking to me. Saying over and over. My door is the most beautiful door ever designed. Even being 15 years old I'm still good looking, not just good looking but gorgeous. So I paid total attention to the door whispering at me. By now I'm engage in a conversation with my car. It wasn't the door talking but the car itself in the metal. Actually precious is not a she but a full blown male. I apologize to him of my ignorant handling of the interior. Lunch is over and promise him to continue with our chat. He had a last request. You own a Porsche now, what is the profile of 90% of Porsche owners????? .................................exactly. there is no room for easy going, don't sweat the small stuff, humble people, here, I can't imagine how is the 997 forum and up. So no love for you, limit yourself to technical questions, complain about the 996 value and how the IMS is going to blow your engine, don't say nice things about your car or how you enjoy to drive it, instead, complain about parts older than 10 years start breaking, all other cars are faster than yours and more reliable, until you understand this then you will fit right in!!!!!

POST 102 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This evening I laid down on the couch after dinner and I’ll try to explain my intermittent recollection of the weird event that happen to me. I slowly started to get up from the couch not on my free will. A force was pulling me towards the garage. Out of the blue I encountered metal objects flying towards me. I grabbed the couch pillow and was able to bat the objects away the best I could. I couldn’t deflect the IPhone and it hit me in the nut sack and got stuck to my front pocket. My wife Galaxy S5 didn’t charge at me for some reason. I tried to calling my wife for help. She shouted from her room, I’m busy don’t bother me, but I need assistance I’m being attack by flying blunt metal objects. I don’t care, I don’t care if the IPhone is bigger now go and talk to your little friends in the garage. Might as well take the couch and the portable toilet in the attic with you. Hey, I need help. Ask Bullet she said. I was able to reach the garage and closed the door behind me. I hear the sounds of knives striking at the door. What the hell just happen? I felt like a human magnet. Suddenly the light in the garage starts flickering. My tools start to elevate and again lunging at me. The garage door open and closes intermittently. I pick up my wife precious and sacred object the Walmart special broom. Again I find myself batting away. Oh shoot here comes the possessed human balloons flying above the cars like an enclosed bird caught inside the house. I hear voices but don’t see white people. The balloons start screaming Me So Me so (Pause) Me So Me So. You’re not real I put you all in the trash bin last week. Out of the blue I hear a subtle female voice shouting at me come over here. No you’re supposed to be dead and buried not going there no more. OMG, I see the Bullet’s driver’s door opening and a ghost looking female is coming out of my car. Nice interior door fascia not sure about the color she blurbs out. What, What! Come over here before that pitch fork nails your ***. She starts clicking her fingers and moving her head side to side while my tools to retreat back to the tool bin. Barbara Eden is that you? No silly I’m Charlotte she said with a British accent. Everything is back to normal no more Me So, Me So human balloons. She grabs me by the hand and pulls me towards my Bullet I guess not sure what to call my car anymore. OH OH now, I get stuck to the fender and I can’t get up, I mean I can pull away. Just lay here with me. Rest your big nutty head on my hood and relax. You forgot to take your meds she implies. I fall into a trance and start to hear voices emanating from the hood. Let’s banned his ***, no let’s make him pay for membership and then guide him to the nut house threads he’ll feel right at home there. Bullet is that you? Yes, also Charlotte, Maylin, Rebecca, Sue and Pete, John among others. I tried to get away but I’m magnetized somehow to the fender. Oh Shisa, there’s black smoke filtering from under the garage door. Is forming into a human entity form. It finally completes the transformation and OMG he’s wearing a T-shirt with big bloody letters that read IMS. Suddenly he speaks out and screaming asked is that DUCK TAPE? In panic mode after that question, I wake up and realize that it was just a bad nightmare. I'm all sweaty and startled on the couch. I called my shrink and told him what just happen. .He said that I just went through an episode. He advised me to double the dosage. Oh, no more meds please. He also said that he was going to refer me to a Schizophrenia specialist. My priest never returned my calls. I'm thinking about moving to Colorado. Why do I have a screw driver stuck to my front pocket? After further investigation I discover this in my pocket. I totally forgot it was there.

I love my car. I like the narrow body silhouette. It looks like a stiletto knife cutting thru the wind. The movement and handling around corners is to die for. The way it shoots out of the hole. The looks of envy and surprise to see such rare commodity. I love the sound emanating from the FabSpeed cans. Sound of authority and conquering thoughts. Sometimes I drive my other car to work. Im sorry what! Why? It doesnt make any sense to leave this chariot behind. When I drive my beater car Im regular Joe blow. When I jump into my rocket my nostrils enlarge, by chest expands and my warrior armor engulfs me. My sword shines and Im ready for war. My Kenwood talks to me in a loud melody. The transmission demands my attention and the engine comes alive with the sound of music. The ship reacts to my senses. The time piece is in full metal jacket. The cold air intake has its own language interpreting my emotions and face expressions. My hand becomes one with the shifter. My leg melts into his soul. We become one with each other and communicate our thoughts in a synchronized mental harmony. I get pumped up and forget about my problems, my wife and my dog. Im rich and powerful in my spaceship with the Artic Silver reflecting blinding glares thru the roads of Chi-town. Everyone looks at the flying saucer. What is that shinny thing? Wow, is a Porsche 911Carrera bato. Did you see it homy? Dam you miss it. It was low, with a mean look and a bad *** flying wing in the posterior. Impressive with black wheels and fat tires. I bet you he floats on hydrogen gas. Plastics were clear and smoked all around. All I heard was the bass thumping. I want one of those bad. Dam, I love those cars. They get me so, me so every time I see one.

POST 115Original post

You do know its not really a GT2, right? The MKI is actually the slowest 996 produced and worse handling of the generation. Court ordered therapy might be in order. Decreed for you!

POST 116Original post

I think OP's theory is that since the 4S is an automatic, it's slower than anything ever produced that has a standard transmission.

POST 117 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I love my car. Just wanted to inform you of my mental health status. I told you that I was going to keep you up to date of my progress. It was a hard decision for me and my family to follow what my Doctors, Pastor, Rabi, Imam and finally my schizophrenia specialist medical advice. Under a lot of pressure from my family and especially from my dog, I decided to submit myself to shock therapy. My final turning point was when my own dog that I have fed every day for the last 7 years turned against me and viciously attack me and inflicted an embarrassing wound on my buttock. According to family witnesses even though my physical body was trying to reprimand my pooch for not properly fetching a beer from my new special ordered shiny all chrome out fridge. My voice, face expressions and body language weren’t a representation of my true self. In other words I was in some type of episode. Others less educated folks would call it possessed from within. Here’s what happened. I paid 5 grand for dog training with specific focus on German beer retrieval. BTW my dog is an Australian shepherd. Rusty go and get me a beer. I want the German type from Hamburg not the one from Munich. So there goes Rusty all proud of his new beer retrieval training specializing in German brews. After a ferocious barking episode in front of my fridge. Rusty stops and realizes that he’s barking at his own reflection from my new chrome out fridge. He proceeds to open the door. He pinpoints the Munich target brew and reaches to grab OH! shoot there goes my last piece of flan. Bad dog Rusty. All of this is being capture from my chrome out camera triggered by motion movement specially purchased to monitor squirrel mating rituals in my back yard. That’s an ongoing project for my kid’s science class. Where was I? OH yea, here comes Rusty wagging his tale all proud. He sits in front of me opens the beer drinks it and then goes back into the kitchen opens the trash bin and then deposits the empty brewsky . No No bad dog. There is something missing from this training. I called back the trainer to explain the situation. He tries to explain to me that if I want Rusty to hand over the beer it will cost me an additional 5 g’s. He also reminds me that I have an Australian instead of a German shepherd. I let him know that I don’t like Aussie beers. I’m sorry what? I do feel much better. At the beginning of the therapy it was kind of shocking at first. Then I got use to the flapping of the arms, standing up hair, watery nostrils, bulging eyes, burnt hair smell and intermittent uncontrollable valve movement. I’m a new man. I do have to revisit my doctor and tell him about my new friend named whatever is not that important. In reality I haven’t named him yet. Ok, let me tell you something I have a ghost in my car. For now l will called him Elliot. He shows up every time I turn my windshield wipers on. Once I turn them off for some reason they keep turning back on by themselves. I see Elliot reaching over and turning them back on. So, I drive on a sunny day with the wipers flashing by every so often. I command Elliot to stop doing that and sometimes he listens and they finally turn off. I’m a new man and still love my car even if it’s the slowest and worst handling Pcar ever designed. Now I have to go. I have a court appointment to argue my decreed. PS: Next training class Rusty go put some shrimp on the barbie. TRUE STORY - Interview with Schizophrenic Man - YouTube
