Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The fuse I changed recently was for the cigarette lighter socket, which is D5.
Leading evidence: 'Replace recently was' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My manual says that a diagram or plan for the fuse panel is on the backside of the lid in the footwell. Is is not. Does someone have a diagram ? Car is 99 c2

What is supposed to be there is a little booklet, with fuse placement information in several languages. It is quite small print and would likely not scan very well. There are also supposed to be several replacement fuses there as well.
Which fuse are you intending to replace?
I was wrong about the scan. Here is the fuse layout.
Row A is the top row, E is the bottom one. The fuse positions are marked on the housing, with #1 on the left end.
The fuse I changed recently was for the cigarette lighter socket, which is D5. 4th row from the top, and fifth socket from the left.
Good luck!

You're welcome.
It seems the cigarette light socket fuse is susceptible to blowing not only in Porsches. I also just replaced this same one in my 2006 Subaru Legacy.

Funny about the D5 fuse. I blew one this weekend. Driving cross country, I had the GPS and Radar detector plugged in to a multi-outlet aftermarket. Luckily, the little booklet was right where it was supposed to be!
Does anyone have a fuse layout for '06 997.1? My outlet under the footwell of the passenger side and the outlet in the center console isnt working. Trying to find out which fuse handles that.
Thanks in advance
I looked for over a year on all Porsche related sites for an identification of where the taillight fuses were to no avail. One site suggested A7, another A5 and even though I have this little card it does not identify where the taillight fuses are. Finally yesterday I discovered that what Porsche refers to as sidelights are really the taillights!! So, position A3 is the drivers side taillight, A4 is the passenger side taillight. I am posting this so others will not waste $300 or so on a headlight switch replacement as sooooooooooooooooo many people have claimed is the culprit for taillights not working!!
As with all 986's this should also apply to all years from 1997 - 2004.
