Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Your in the same area as me, I wonder if it was the same car!
Leading evidence: 'same car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'same car' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 996' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

At least it isn't another IMS or 'how do I change my blinker fluid' thread...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Wanted to try something new, so I subtracted 9 from my old car and bought this one... Only had a few real drives in it so far but really enjoying it so far.
2008 Cayman S, Pristine condition, one previous owner, full service docs, zero issues, etc. Sport Chrono, PASM, PCM, Bi-Xenon's, etc. 100% stock, right down to the orange sidemarkers. I'll get around to some changes soon enough...
I took these pictures yesterday, was a gorgeous day. Today heading home, weather wasn't nearly as nice! I got caught out in the mountains when the storms rolled in. I don't think the car had even seen rain before, but a hundred miles of mountain twisties and passes in heavy rain and even some light snow, and I think it might have been the most fun street drive I've had in a Porsche so far!
Right now I don't want to think about how much cleaning it's going to take to get it back into the condition shown below...
PS, Yes, I realize this is the 996 forum. Suck it up. At least it isn't another IMS or 'how do I change my blinker fluid' thread...
.
The Cayman S probably is a truer descendant of the 996 than the 991 is. Couldn't help but to gravitate to the Caymans more than the 991s on my last trip to the Porsche dealership.
No sunroof on Cayman's, so I'm guessing its got at least a bit more headroom (vs normal sunroof coupe 996/997). Not a problem for me so I haven't paid much attention.
Classic looking! Must drive great!?
I really wish Porsche would have just stuck to numbers, calling this the 987S. I get confused between the nice sports car Cayman, and the SUV Cayenne!
Congrats, that's a beautiful car. I'd love to meet up sometime & compare notes. I was seriously considering a Cayman S before pulling the trigger on my 40th AE.
I will add to the chorus of approvals!
I bought my '06 Cayman S prior to buying my 996.
They are definite differences between the cars.
My experiences are:
The 996 is my go-to car for longer trips, sightseeing, and pleasant cruising. It is definitely good fun in the twisties, but it also does "easy driving" too. Mine is a tiptronic cabriolet, so it fits the bill.
The Cayman is all performance, heightened awareness driving. Responses are sharper, the car flings around better, feels lighter (it is). The cabin finishes are more modern (think 997), but the interior is smaller. The engine is something like 10" to the back and down from your right elbow and you feel far more in control of the car's dynamics.
Both mechanical and road noise are higher than the 996. It's great fun on any trip, but it seems to require or coax more involvement out of you and long drives are a bit more tiring.
I recommend this one. It is on the Porsche approved list.
If you wanna try before you buy, you can borrow a little sample from me since you're close by.
Funny, I considered a 40thAE before I pulled the trigger on the 987S... Your in the same area as me, I wonder if it was the same car! Number 0963?
The CS definitely could use another 50HP, (it has 291) but I can see why Porsche didn't go that way in gen1. The handling is so crisp that other than the very few that actually need the 911's rear seat, it would have left the 911 (997) as their halo car virtually in name only... The new 981 GTS (Cayman GTS) with PDK must really be a blast at 340HP, but at triple my '08 CS cost, not even remotely in my play-car budget.
Nope, mine's #1147 & was shipped in from out of state.
I've been reading about and lusting after the Cayman GTS. The plan is to keep my car until 981 prices drop within play-car budget. I don't dare drive one now as it would likely result in a savings account draining experience. Good luck with your CS & I'm curious to hear how it treats you in the long run.
