only a small update but to keep this thread going been after updating the stereo in the porka for a while now and having nearly pulled the trigger on buying a new stereo that I liked only to discover unless I changed my phone to apple it would of been a waste of time as it was apple car play based (pioneer da 120)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello guys had some warm welcomes on my intro thread and a few seemed interested in seeing what i'd done with the car I plan to do a few other bits i thought i'd throw up a progress thread that i'll keep up to date as i go along shes a 2001 c4 with factory aero kit factory lowered apparently too (cant remember what suspension it was?) pretty much immaculate except for some lacquer peel on the wheels but i'll be sorting that out soon enough anyway info waffle heres the pics from the for sale ad in autotrader and one when i'd got her home needless to say its given me lots of smiles per miles so far but im a little bit of a tinkerer! and cant help but have to fiddle n mod stuff and sort little niggles so my 1st mod i fancied doing was updating the rear a little with some LED's so some dectanes were 1st on the shopping list! comparison shot (obviously new on the right) what the brake lights look like nicely match the 3rd brake light on the spoiler imo and at night lights on

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

next up i wanted a bit more of a sporty sound and while an exhaust is on the shopping list i went for a induction kit 1st and decided on the fabspeed intake as well i'll be honest i thought it looked like engine bay **** lol before after i know most porsche die hards dont like induction kits and i took the kits claim of a claimed extra 24 hp with a pinch of salt as it was all about the sound for me and ive not noticed much on the butt dyno good or bad maybe a bit more urgency higer in the rev range but boy does it sound awesome and growls like an animal now! a quick video clip once id installed it (obviously the sound on a mobile phone i did it on does it no justice at all!) just click the pic to watch http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt159/m44lee/Mobile%20Uploads/20141116_152213_zpszgcbpanx.mp4 doesnt seem to work for me on here so heres the direct link http://vid607.photobucket.com/albums/tt159/m44lee/Mobile%20Uploads/20141116_152213_zpszgcbpanx.mp4

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

to match the LED rears it was clear i needed the licence plate bulbs to match so ordered a set from ebay bulb comparison new on left oe on right and job done

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

a little niggle i did have when i 1st purchased the car which helped me knock a bit off the price that i knew i could sort easily was a scuff on the drivers bolster on the seats but i'd used some on my bmw vader seats before and had great results so out came the liquid leather and a couple of coats later it was all gone

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just to help keep things tidy in the limited storage space we do have i got one of these to keep the mobil 1 in has a velcro back so sticks the sides nicely instead of it flying about and what she looks like for the time being mods will probably be on hold now till the new year as had a nasty little blowout the other week on the motorway but an exhaust is probably next n its the kline system that im probably going for as im sure you'll agree its automotive **** and almost a shame to have a rear bumper hiding it! lol and then maybe an update to the stereo but im not sure on this as this yet current setup dont think ive seen any other 996 with the same amp or equalizer or whatever that is at the bottom? but thats this thread just about up to date any comments both positive or negative are more than welcome ;-)

POST 7Original post

Love the car and really love that exhaust! Welcome to the looney bin.

POST 8Original post

I got one of those amp things also. It will make the radio louder and can make it echo. That's all I have figured out so far. Guess I should read the manual.

POST 9Original post

Looks great. Its an addictive hobby. Btw what did you exactly use on your seat. It looks brand spankin new

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys the comments are much appreciated @996pp seats wise this is the stuff i used is called a scuffmaster kit im sure you'd be able to get the same stuff in the states but heres where i got it from http://bespokeleathering.com/leathercare/buyonline @dgjks6 yeah worked that bit out n have grown to love it lol so not sure what i wanna do now as initially i wanted an upgrade and was gonna copy this but am now considering leaving it standard and just adding a aux option for the ipod but i'm still on the fence! lol

POST 11Original post

Thanks for the link Lee. I don't have any scuffs on my seats (YET) lol, but your results look awesome and its something that will come in handy later in the years.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

for a change it was absolutely lovely weather today in Wales and as some of you are aware there are some lovely roads to be driven on! so as you do she's been out for a good spanking today sunroof open etc so I could hear that glorious sound then a quick wash followed by a few snaps on the way home

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just a tiny update but kept getting a bit of a squeak from the wipers so they were changed for some bosch aero wipers shes due a major service and a mot this month so doubt there will be any other updates this month

POST 14Original post

Lee, Car looks amazing.. The upgrade possibilities is endless and addicting. Everything you have done is great.. Do you plan on tracking the car? As this Presents a whole slew of other bits and goodies Enjoy

POST 15Original post

Nice job! You have officially joined the Porsche Loony Bin Club! Once in, it is very hard to extract ones self! Good going as to making it your own!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the porka has a lack of storage space inside as mine doesn't have a glovebox so decided I'd see if the old bmw e36's cargo net I had left over fitted and sure enough 20150314_134546_zps93hrhmn4.jpg like a glove 8)

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

not much of an update but was proud how well the paint work came up today its the 1st time I've clayed it polished and waxed it today and the paintwork came up fantastic so a little pic whoring had to follow! ops: 20150605_204156_zpsiwlgqfrz.jpg 20150605_204137_zps63gy98gb.jpg 20150605_193712_zps43wetqy1.jpg 20150605_192118_zps85cftbjr.jpg 20150605_193732_zpsciwcnhko.jpg 20150605_204117_zpsie8wt127.jpg 20150605_195338_zpsneteboah.jpg

POST 18Original post

In all seriousness, nice work on the car. It seems to have found a great owner.

POST 19Original post

Honestly you have caused me some serious issues now...... Unfortunately it's very early for me to start such modifications but for sure they are not very far... Gongrats for a great looking car!!

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

only a small update but to keep this thread going been after updating the stereo in the porka for a while now and having nearly pulled the trigger on buying a new stereo that I liked only to discover unless I changed my phone to apple it would of been a waste of time as it was apple car play based (pioneer da 120) after a chat with an audio specialist I decided I'd wait for an equivalent android version which will be getting launched in the near future apparently! (any pioneer fans confirm or deny?) anyway as a cheap and cheerful fix in the meantime I brought a cable off good old ebay that works a treat for 14 quid delivered it was worth a try 20150718_155633_zps7wocckyw.jpg after following a good old youtube guide I found out it already had a lead on there that someone had cut off (dension? anyone heard of them? worth fixing it?) 20150720_175209_zpsbcrlxhpi.jpg the connections look a bit old school so imagine its not easy to replace these 20150720_175325_zps9qwe6evs.jpg but anyway 20 mins or so later and activating the aux mode I'm in business and can now stop buying CD's again lol 20150720_130949_zps7ihptgdh.jpg sound quality is just as good as the normal radio / CD's so cant complain only gripe I'd have is it doesn't charge the ipod and its that old the battery dies after a couple of hours! but think those that did charge the ipod had a stupid price tag

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

new exhaust turned up today, its a dansk super sport that has done less than a 1000 miles and the ex owner thought it was too loud so picked it up for a bargain price 20150731_152919_zpsjdk2j5zc.jpg just waiting on my exhaust fitting kit to turn up now! and i'll be sure to do a before and after vid

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

got the dansk exhaust fitted today 20150804_163718_zpsjj3hcgkn.jpg 20150804_164244_zps3ufkicb9.jpg may treat my self to some new stainless sports cats now as they are looking a bit old next to the new back boxes and did a small before and after vid that does them no justice but you can clearly hear the sound difference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBSR...ature=youtu.be

POST 23Original post

that exhaust tone sounds very similar to the porsche sport muffler any chance you could record the sound while you are driving from a stop thru the gears??

another small update always thought the wheels looked a bit lost in the arches so purchased some 15mm spacers 20150806_120128_zpscxc6i4xj.jpg before shots 20150806_120443_zps4gnqq4a4.jpg 20150806_122708_zpsjtlob6hw.jpg 20150806_122712_zps7sknt6jm.jpg and after 20150806_131736_zpsuz3uwrdv.jpg 20150806_131759_zpsxdofnzv5.jpg looks much better imo not taken her for a spin yet but hoping all is well driving wise
