Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

(Just found your other post - saw you bought an older 996 than the one you sold - Just curious - did either 996 have the IMS replaced?)

Sorry, but I can't recall, what 996 did you replace the 997 with?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So here are some shots from the dealer's web site and with his permission. Signed all the docs, swapped keys, etc., just 2.5 hours ago. I like everything about the new car except the interior...the 996 is much classier. But I can't complain about the outside nor the driving.
ps - full leather int.
Looks awesome! Shahin from STA is easy to work with. I got mine from the same place.
Just be careful of the service manager Joe. He's an idiot! .... Of course unless he's gone.
Congrats John.
I take my car to STA for service. Joe the service mgr , is long gone. Think they've gone through 2 more mgrs since he was there
Vic , the head service tech, is top notch.
Alan
I also acquired my vehicle there.
There was a issue when I was supposed to pick up the car, so hey lent me a 90 Acura Legend to roll around In till my car was ready (~3 weeks).
Those round headlights make it look like an antique and didn't you hear the 3.8 engines in the S have cylinder problems.
Just kidding. Great looking car. Love the color and wheels. Have fun with it.
Looks awsome. Enjoy it in good health.

996=Breitling
997=Rolex, as you see more 997's on the streets then 996's
986=seiko, entry level watch/porsche
Looks great! And, you will find the tip
very
satisfying if you slide the lever to M mode, and a bit docile in the D mode (it shifts up the gears rather too quickly, left to its own devices).
Ya done good!
Congrats John. Our Armenian culture has a an old saying this doesn't translate well but it's roughly something close to "may you and the car be safe". I'd drop a Russian script on you but that one would definitely not translate well. Be well..

Beautiful car. I almost pulled the trigger on the identical car with a manual before I bought my 996, but it was a bit more than I wanted to spend at the time.
Good luck with it.
Traded it in. They gave me my price and I gave them almost theirs. I just finished going over how to fix a flat. I'll believe it works when I actually have to do it. In the meantime I'm going to get a plug kit as well and make sure I have a small jack in the car.
So no more 996, that was quick, you honestly think the 996 is classier inside though? I'm a bit surprised, the only thing I prefer the 996 over than in a 997 (interior wise) is my 3 spoke wheel, so simple and clean. Congrats nonetheless she is a beauty.
Gee I got rid of the 997 back in August of last year...after only three months of ownership. Why/how did this thread come back to life? I hated the 997 interior, and I only liked half of the sport chrono package (throttle maping was nice, suspension was not), and I hated not having a spare...or a dip stick...and I found the 19" wheels to be the equivalent of padded bras. I did like the tiptronic and that's why when I went back to a 996 (much better interior) I stayed with the tip...almost as good as PDK and tons less expensive to work on.
I was told by a former employee of Sports Trend I'd get my **** polished in the 996 I Purchased there, the day I picked it up, hasn't happened yet.
I want my money back
John:
You sold the 997 and went back to a 996 after only 3 months?
Reminds me of two of my many (77 and counting) cars which didn't make the "long term travel team". My first (of 2) Mercedes Type 107s. A 560 SL. Rode like a truck, way too heavy, underpowered and very thirsty. The second was a purchased new Plymouth Duster (my wife always called it the "dustpan"). A two door coupe version of the Plymouth Valiant. You had to be careful cornering or you'd scrape the rocker panels.
Sorry, but I can't recall, what 996 did you replace the 997 with? (Just found your other post - saw you bought an older 996 than the one you sold - Just curious - did either 996 have the IMS replaced?)
My first 996 was an 03 3.6...no IMS work done on it. The 997S was an 06. I wanted my 996 back after just one week...maybe even just 5 days. The current 996 is a 2000 3.4 (built in late 1999, sold new in Jan 2000). I wanted a 3.4 with certain build date because of the duel row IMS bearing... and because of the manual latches to open the frunk and engine bay. I based my duel row bearing choice basaed on Porsche's class action statement about a failure rate of 1% or less. The car is a one owner with 45k miles and full service history from the same Porsche Dealer for 16 years. Oh yes and it is a cab...which I originally wasn't looking for but which my wife and I are enjoying immensely. One of the things I did like about the 997 was the tiptronic. I find the tip in my 2000 to be every bit as nice and with a very aggressive mapping. I also bought a 3 year 36k mile after market warranty that cover much more than just the power train. I'll put up a couple of pictures with its new wheels...whenever I get around to it.
Oh yes...still on its original OEM IMS...at this point I have no intention of changing it. I still have enough of a slush fund that if the engine lets go, it lets go. I'd rather put the money into male enhancement and a face lift.
