Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

problem solved this afternoon - indy shop located serial# sticker and is sending to owner of car
all,
I PM'd Jake Raby this question but he must be busy and I haven't received answer.
I am seriously looking at buying a C4S in pacific NW and car had LN IMS bearing replaced in December. Owner did not receive the serial# sticker from shop - Nowhere to be found. Awaiting answer from shop but I'm anxious to find out if I can trace the serial#.
Question: Are the LN IMS bearing serial#'s traceable thru purchase order records so I can confirm bearing has been replaced?
+996. OP, I think JR made it clear in a past thread that issues/questions re: LN Engineering products are best addressed directly with them and not FSI/Mr. Raby.
That would be my first thought, if* it was registered for the warranty then LN should have the VIN on file. I know this has been suggested in the past, but I don't recall seeing anyone come back and confirm if LN shared that information or not.
I say "if" as I know of at least one bearing that was not registered for the warranty. While what I did with my old one seems to be unique, I doubt I'm the only one to skip the registration.
On a related note (I asked before in the big IMSB thread, but didn't get an answer), where do buyers expect to see the sticker? I put one of the small ones on the work order and another in the owner's manual, but where is the best place to put the big one?
The most obvious place to me would be on the bonnet, but it's already been replaced and repainted a couple of times so I'm leery of putting it there and then it getting whacked again and the sticker getting lost during the repairs.
The other option I can think of would be the door jamb with the other stickers there. I figure if it gets whacked there the loss of the LN sticker is the least of it's problems
Was the work done by any of these shops? LN Engineering uses Certified Installers and then there are preferred installers. If it was indeed done, given the hysteria over this issue, I cannot believe one of their Certified or Preferred installers would "forget" to apply the serial # sticker.

I'd still contact LNE as it's their product your dealing with, they can tell you where they suggest to put it.
hope someone answers this as I'm interested in knowing where to put mine as well.
It happens , I bought the l&n bearing directly .
I was going to do the work myself but lost my shop so had a local Indy porsche shop do the work.
They lost the sticker . So my car doesn't have it .
But I do have recipts for the part and work.
I also helped a friend change the clutch in his c2 and the sticker was on the inside next to the ims bearing cover .
When looking for cars I saw stickers inside the engine compartment , door jams and even in the service record book.
I'd say the location of the sticker is usually on the driver side door jamb. That is where my IMS Solution sticker is. So Groove...does the C4S owner have the receipt showing the upgrade?
Had some questions about my engine build and also asked LNE about the sticker placement.
they said a lot of shops put the sticker in the engine bay of 911's.
Yep, this was an LN question, I have zero to do with the products that are distributed.
The Flat 6 Decals are different for the vehicles that we retrofit, and they are serialized to the engine's M#, and the vehicle's VIN. These always go in the driver's door jamb.
you remind me of an irritable x-wife
flipping is defined as making a profit when selling - the last 5 porsches i've sold over the past 7 years have been at a break even or even a slight loss, so i would presume the answer would be no. i've also been hunting for a boat for the past 2 years and was the reason for my last 2 C4S sales which were last year - if you weren't so lazy you could have done some homework.
my 1959 356 super sunroof coupe sold last month is a car i have had for almost 30 years - restored it and have driven it all over the west coast. i thought i'd never sell my 356 but i couldn't refuse the offer, someone beating my doors down for years to own it - i won't discuss particulars because the local seattle buyer asked me not to.
i consider myself lucky to have the ability to buy a porsche for pure enjoyment, experience them, then move on to the next.
i've also helped many RL member buy cars and they have been pleased with my efforts - i've never asked for money and have never been paid to help someone find a car - i just love doing it. love the hunt.
my track record on RL well documents every move i've made.
i suggest you find someone else's post to crap on - if you need help finding one i'd be happy to assist - for free
that very well could happen
...ready to pull trigger on 2002 C4S silver/black but battling wife about this purchase - thought i'd never have to use that lame excuse
Flipping is the ATTEMPT of making money. Doesn't mean you HAVE to make money. If you are good at it, you will make money. 3 cars/year is definitely in the flipping category. I flip cars to generate money for the hobby "car fund", there is no shame in it. I didn't call you a used car salesman, so why are you getting all pissedoff?
because you've crapped on my posts in the past and its irritating - and theres no making money flipping 996's no matter how good you are. now 356's and 911's 10-20 years ago was a much different $tory
When I had mine done a few years ago by a certified installer here in Richmond, the sticker was prominently affixed to the top wall of the body of the engine bay. Can't miss it if someone wanted to check it.
Juan is a very sharp individual. After he attended my hands on class, inviting him to start the evaluation process for the Certified Installer process was a no brainer. He is one of the sharpest class attendees we've ever experienced.. No doubt.
Yes, I agree. HE's very knowledgeable about Porsches and his reputation in this city is very good. By the way, he just finished rebuilding a red 1986 turbo and it's a jewel.
Absolutely.. I take the Certified Installer program seriously. Only the best are invited, and even they are challenged during evaluation. They must maintain and perpetuate their good quality and judgment at all timesBecoming a CI is difficult, maintaining the certification is the most difficult.
Juan is a super guy, for sure.
