Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Anyhow now I see the other photo's I have to agree with Mark70, the "Air Duct" is installed already on the side you photographed.
Leading evidence: 'Install already' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'oat sensor' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install already' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
If it was the OAT sensor, then it would make sense to leave it exposed.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was under the front end of my 2003 Cabriolet and noticed two areas in each front corner. They look like they could have had a plastic panel come off. The areas are larger than the width of my hand and lead perhaps to air ducts. I can try to get a better picture later when I can jack it up. Looking thru a parts diagram has not been helpful without knowing the part name. Here is a bad pic of the passenger side in question. Thanks
I have no idea...great help ehh? Here are the underbody linings for the front...but I don't see anything like that:

Maybe it is the exhaust port for the radiator fans? I also don't think the fan resistor should just be laying there.
The resistor is held in place by two clips (they're the black things you can see near both ends of the resistor) - it looks to me like it is properly installed.
^ +1 "Air Deflector Wheel".
They are rubbery pieces (tolerant of some contact with the road and kerbs) that attach through the holes in your picture. They redirect hot air that has passed through the radiators in an outward direction in front of the tires, whilst cold air is passed into the brake cooling duct.
Very easy (and cheap) to (re)fit FWIW.
More pics. The one gives more detail what is in the duct. The other shows its corner position . I still cannot find the part in the catalog so I can order them. There is no "air deflector wheel" listed as a part.
That fan resistor looks a lot what I would think the outside air temperature sensor would look like. But I guess it wouldn't make sense to put it in the exhaust stream for the radiator cooling fans. If it was the OAT sensor, then it would make sense to leave it exposed.
Huh, you're right, I gave you the wrong name for the part numbers 996 504 603 and 996 504 604, the Porsche parts catalog calls them "Air Ducts" (My receipt from Sunset Porsche called them Air Deflector Wheel).
Anyhow now I see the other photo's I have to agree with Mark70, the "Air Duct" is installed already on the side you photographed. What is missing and fits in the empty slots you can see in the first photo you posted to this thread is the "Rubber Lip" 996 504 504 03 (right) and 996 504 503 03 (Left)

EDIT: We posted at the same moment...looks like the left side pic you just posted has nothing missing at all. So just the one piece missing on the right side...you can see the difference, right?
Ion,
Thanks. Our pics match. I am missing the rubber lip on the passenger side. But i think there are panels gone on both sides. I am am having trouble believing the design of the rubber parts has all those extra tabs just out there for no reason. We could both be missing a panel or screen that fits in the hole. Or not...
Put your hand under the opening when the engine is hot and the radiator fans are on and you'll see why there is a gaping hole there from the hot air blast. (*Don't* stick your hand inside the opening, radiator fans is in there somewhere and not good for the fingers!).
The ambient air temp sensor is housed on the front of the car in the passenger-side air duct. It looks like this:
The byproduct of electrical resistance is heat; locating the resistor in a place where it can shed heat and is less likely to come in contact with other stuff isn't a bad idea.
There are a couple of places that sell aftermarket anodized aluminum heat sinks for the resistors (for folks who want to dress up an are of the car that nobody will ever see).
