Of course it was the first time i changed the oil myself so i had no idea what the filter looked like.

OE rotors are cross-drilled and have excellent cooling characteristics, but if you track your car, I'd recommend slotted as they are less prone to cracking.

Then, I get around to the oil change, lift the car, drain oil, remove filter, clean up a bit as filter drains into pan, remove filter from oil filter cover and guess what?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just rolled 90K on my daily driver 2000 C2. I've been putting a lot of miles on it lately and it needs pads and rotors all the way around.
Is anyone aware of a complete kit from any vendor? I'd like to do something simple like Zimmerman rotors all the way around and maybe an aggressive street pad.
And yes, I'm trying to save a little coin for myself because I just dropped $2200 at the shop between a few 90k service items and new plugs/coilpacks/tubes.
Mille gracias,
Dave
I think ECS Tuning has some reasonably priced "kits"... Also Warehouse 33 is supposed to be good, and Gert at Carnewal always has great prices - though the shipping can be pricey at times... It's a common wear item, so anyone who sell Porsche parts can put together what you want. Good luck
Buzz Killington I don't have any brake kits on the website, but PM me and I can put one together with the brands you would prefer.
Or here is a link to the brake rotors

Be careful ordering from ECS. They say they have kits but if any parts are missing they just claim YOU didn't order it...
Now, I ordered a 40k service kit they put together. The experience was awful. Kept delaying shipping
They say they have things in stock, they really don't. My shipping confirmation was changed twice and delayed. original order confirmation on 12/17/15 get a delay notice on 12/22/15 saying there was a delay and I'd get my package on 12/23/15. on the 12/24/15 I get another delay notice saying I would get the parts on 12/28/15. No phone call no indication of what is holding up the order. i ended up calling them and asked what the problem was. They say it the oil, they don;t have it in stock! I'm like I can get that anywhere! Ship the rest!
I still didn't get my stuff till after the 28th, I got the "your order has been processed for shipping on the 28th...
They left out front windshield wipers, sent the back one but not the front ones. When I inquired the only response I got was "After a quick review of your order, front wipers were not ordered and are not listed on your invoice (linked below)"
nothing about oops, sorry about the oversight lets get them right out... I responded by saying I see on the order you're right, they weren't ordered but you guys put the 40k kit together and that was a very disappointing response. To which, I got NO response.
Then, I get around to the oil change, lift the car, drain oil, remove filter, clean up a bit as filter drains into pan, remove filter from oil filter cover and guess what? wrong filter! Ok so, here I am, car in the air, no oil in it, and they only thing they offer to do is "send you the right filter" I'm like, dude I'm stranded, supposed to drive 60 miles for a family dinner in a couple of hours and I have no way to go pick up a new filter, how is sending a new filter helping me, I had to inconvenience my friend to come get me, drive me to Auto Parts store After i spent an hour finding one in stock locally, drive 25 minutes each way, burn my buddies gas and waist an hour of both our time? to which , you guessed it, I got no response! That was Saturday and still no confirmation of how they plan to make things right. No way I would recommend ordering anything from them.
[edit] so I got a response after a bad yelp review a few minutes ago. They're offering to refund the price of the filter and not have me send back the wrong one! wow, so generous! all of $7 and leave me a filter I can't even use!!! they're going to refund the money on the wrong part!!! woo hoo, they truly are offering NOTHING, it probably cost more than that to drive the 20 miles to the auto parts store and back... and thats not considering my time wasted because of the wrong part, my buddy's time and the premium I paid at the local store... not to mention my having to miss the family meal... why on earth would I want to buy from them again. there is truly no consequence to them...
I ordered mine from pelican parts
Sebro rotors and cool carbon pads
They have multiple rotor and pad options and I've found the service to be great
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/0922/POR_0922_BRKPAD_pg3.htm#item15
Pelican parts has a whole brake kit available
I just ordered rear brake pads from them, and about to order front pads and new rotors.
Ordered them Friday at 1230am, got them next day (Saturday).
Pelican parts is awsome.
^That^ Truly sounds like a nightmare! I'm sure your post will be of consequence to them. It only takes a few like that to make people wary. I know that I'll certainly think twice about ordering from them again...
I think what it comes down to dealing with ECS is, you are essentially on your own, you cannot rely on their advice, you cannot rely on their estimated shipping dates and you can only expect a very minimal resolution when things don't go as expected. They seem to be more about dodging blame than satisfying a customer. Sure, they're offering a refund for the wrong part but, they need to be far more diligent on getting it right in the first place every time. look at the impact of their $7 mistake. it cost me about 5 total and instead of finishing Friday night, i finished at noon on Saturday. It seems thier attitude is, "whats the big deal, we offered a refund?" As I've been reading more and more, I'd say they earn a grade of maybe a C+ overall. maybe 75% to 80%. My experience would rate them a C- in the end. The only thing they've accepted any responsibility for is the incorrect filter, the fact there was no front wipers (not a big deal mind you) "not our fault" the slow shipping? "not our fault" I'm sorry but this is not good customer service. I don't feel they care even a little bit that they made a mistake because they won't take any blame. You cannot right a wrong that you refuse to admit! The saddest part is, I gave them my trust easily the first time... now I would pay extra to go ANYWHERE else.
Here is the yelp reply.
"Thanks for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry that we failed to meet your expectations here. Just to address a few items however that are not correct in your review above. Several items that were ordered were clearly labeled as not in stock. In particular, the OEM spark plugs were listed as "Ships in 5 days" ( here is a game of symatics. I said "in stock" it was ships in 5 days...either way on the 5th day they wrote and said..."oops...") and the rear wiper blade was listed as "Ships next business day". These dates are locked on your original order confirmation as well so that customers can see the original availability vs. current availability of the products ordered. We would also like to point out that in our order checkout page, that there are several resources available that explain our shipping policy, which states "We only ship complete orders". We apologize if this was overlooked, however this is available on the website during checkout as well, along with the expected ship date for your order. The dates provided are expected ship dates, not delivery dates as you have mentioned above.
As far as the product recommendations that were suggested, we only suggested the following items: ecstuning.com/Cart/?add1…. Wiper blades were not requested and because they are not a standard part found in our service kits, we did not included in the link (ok so, if they weren't found in the service kit why would they send the rear one? Is anyone else seeing a pattern?) , and because Nathan was not asked any further questions on live chat, he assumed that you had everything that was needed before ending the chat after several minutes of not hearing back from you (roughly 11 minutes) (this part I'm not sure of the point).
Lastly, we do apologize for the error in shipping the incorrect oil filter. We would be more than happy to issue you a credit for the incorrect filter, or we could also send a replacement filter, whichever you prefer. We fully understand that it can be very frustrating to receive an incorrect product (frustrating?? please! how about costly, time consuming, inconvenient, stranded...I could go on), which often is only discovered during installation process.
Please let us know what your decision is on the oil filter. I can be reached directly at

"
see they completely minimize the situation. NEVER again!
oh, i received what was on the packing slip. I'm not sure of the point your making.
they recommended and shipped the wrong part. I even went back on their site and checked the part number they had listed for my car and that was indeed what the packing slip showed, what the package showed, and the picture even matched. Of course it was the first time i changed the oil myself so i had no idea what the filter looked like. I never would have held any real weight to the photo anyway as they are just stock photos often times.
the shipping and the wipers were of no real consequence, just icing on the cake. all in one order...
Thanks for the mention gentlemen and the support.
Besides having all the components individually, we offer great Brake Super Kits for your 996
HERE
. The kits give you about everything you'll need for the job, plus more. After all, if you are spending the time and effort to remove your brake calipers, you might as well make sure that you are servicing every piece that might need attention, while you have access to it. When you add the kit to your cart you can remove items from it if you do not want them. Let me know if you have any questions as I am here to help.
Its a good looking kit & if your tempted I note it doesn't mention the brake calliper bolts 8 needed I understood these need changing when removed. O_Sr
Thank you for pointing that out. The kit does include the Caliper Mounting Screws x8, but I will have the bullet point list updated to state that they're included.
Its difficult, I find your site easy to use, your range extensive, but I have to add in postage / shipping and import tax. Which would push it to high and we (UK) have suppliers aplenty.
But hey If I ever get stuck for a part (as I have done in the past) my hunt goes global your first on my list..
Thanks
O_Sr
We don't have them available in the catalog at this time, but we hope to have kits for most of our vehicle brake applications by the end of the year. We've been adding a lot of super kits into the catalog. However, if you give our CS a call they can most certainly put one together for your application over the phone. Or you can shoot me a PM and I'll more than gladly assemble one together for you on an order # for you to review.
We've been kicking around the idea of doing a 996 complete BBK using AP Racing's latest Radi-CAL technology. We are currently working on a 986/987 four wheel kit. If you guys are interested, please speak up. The more demand we see, the more likely we are to bump it up the priority list. Thanks!
I think something like what we sell for the front of the C5Z06 Corvette would be a great front option on the 996, and something a little smaller on back possibly.

My "brake wear" light just came on, guess I have been having too much fun in the twisties around my house.. Shopping around I noticed that all the aftermarket rotors are cross drilled, is it not common to put just slotted rotors on these cars? I had a track car before (Lotus) with drilled rotors and they would crack from hole to hole. I can't seem to find any just slotted rotor sets.
Just for fun, check out the brake setup on the 40AE, I don't know if its real or rendered but holy cow! (photo cred HRE wheels)
Sebro makes a slotted rotor for the 996. At least a few Rennlist sponsors -- ECS, Pelican, and Warehouse 33 -- carry them. Based on their posts, I'm sure they would put together a kit for you if they don't already offer one.
Our brake super kits
HERE
are great. The nice thing about them is that when you "add to cart" and then go to the cart you can remove the drilled rotors and then add the slotted rotors
HERE
to the cart instead. If you need help just shoot me a PM and I'll gladly put it together for you.
I ordered my stuff from you guys a couple of days ago. I liked the ability to start with "everything" and then cut it down to exactly what I wanted and swap a couple of things. It gave me peace of mind that I had considered every part that I might need.
Look on Ebay for rotors
I bought Meyle rotors. ~$85 for the front pair and $75 for the rear pair
Lots of different pads around. You need to decide what ones you want
+1 on warehouse33auto.com great pricing and superduper service
Pelican is good to deal with as well
I saw those but among other things the shipping was slow and I need to do my brakes this weekend (safety inspection runs out).
And I use Pelican's DIY stuff a lot and so figured they'd get my business.
I too like the way we have our kits set up because it allows you to pick and choose what items you want in the kit, but it also gives you a good base of parts to start with so you know what all you need to replace. It's also convenient as everyone may want different brand items in the kit. Thank you for your order and if you need anything at all please don't hesitate to let me know.
OE rotors are cross-drilled and have excellent cooling characteristics, but if you track your car, I'd recommend slotted as they are less prone to cracking.
