Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you do not include drain time, the 996 oil change is what, 10 minutes of labor tops, including the time to refill and check the oil level?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Replaced the pads on my 1999 996 today. I have owned 50+ cars and this was by far the easiest to do. I felt like a member of a pit crew... From jack up to jack down 10 minutes a corner taking my time..
If you have been putting this job off, don't... It's way too easy.
Stunningly, my wife's Murano is even easier than the 996 - on that car, you loosen one 14mm bolt and remove one and the pad carrier swings out and away from the rotor. Like the 996, the prep time (jacking and removing the wheel) take more time than the actual brake job.
After years of dealing with poorly designed front disc brakes and the sheer hellishness of rear drum brakes, I truly enjoy brake jobs on the 996 and the Nissan.
I removed the wear sensor which makes the job even that much easier. Yeah it takes me longer to jack up the car and remove the wheels than replacing the pads.
If I had a lift I could compete against some of the F1 team pit crews for speed!

Chick on the right: Most likely to be asked out.
Chick on the left: Most likely to get engaged.
I guess we now know why Frosty was such a happy, jolly snowman.
The brakes are easy, but an oil change is even easier. If you do not include drain time, the 996 oil change is what, 10 minutes of labor tops, including the time to refill and check the oil level?
