Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I've heard they are easier to install if you use a hair dryer to warm them up a little (maybe I can borrow one from one of the Boxste' drivers) or do it on a hot sunny day.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

This is very substantive stuff I know, but having dropped almost $5k in repair and maintenance in two months I'm not exactly ready to buy more expensive doodads for my car until I can staunch the bleeding from that and the combined body blow of self employment taxes.
Two questions:
1. This lip on Amazon for Mk2s:
Amazon.com: Porsche 996 911 OE Style Urethane Front Bumper Lip Chin Spoiler For 01-05 Models: Automotive
Amazon.com: Porsche 996 911 OE Style Urethane Front Bumper Lip Chin Spoiler For 01-05 Models: Automotive
(no affiliation bla bla bla) - am I safe in assuming that I can make it work on my Mk1 with a minimum of effort? And by minimum of effort I mean a little creativity in the mounting points and maybe trimming to fit.
2. Has anyone put a Singer style Porsche decal on the decklid, and if so, do you have a pic to share? See, e.g.,

Gracias,

The lip pictured appears to be designed to fit the 996 turbo/C4S front bumper. A friend of mine offered to give me one for 996 C2, and the fit is way off. I don't think there is any reasonable way to modify it to fit.
I actually just bought that same lip from amazon. Its definitely a direct fit for the C4s/Turbo bumpers. It took me 5 minutes. If you're dealing with a non c4s/turbo bumper I don't think its an easy fit. Here it is on my car:
For MK1 bumper, you're better off getting 996.2 Cup Car front lip for it IMO.
If you're really desperate like a crack *****, you could do the EZ Lip(which I really do not recommend as it immensely cheapens things, but then again this whole thread is about being "budget friendly" and "frugal").
I ripped the front lip off my car a week or so after I bought it. Finally got around to putting it back on again a few weeks ago, and I can't pull out of my second garage without scraping the heck out of it. Took it off again to increase ground clearance.
The toughest part was getting the first clip to fit in. You have to pull pretty hard. After the first clip pops in (I started from the passenger side) the rest will match up. It was an inexpensive and quick fix for my eaten up lip.
Thanks Moto. I've heard they are easier to install if you use a hair dryer to warm them up a little (maybe I can borrow one from one of the Boxste' drivers) or do it on a hot sunny day. I guess I'll find out. Thanks for the info.
