Also I noticed in my dad's new Silverado with lane awareness, his 9500ix freaks out and powers off after 10 minutes, I'm assuming because of the radar omitted from the lane changing program.

I use the 9500ix and it has paid for itself many times.

In my 996, I used suction cups and put my radar detector on the top of the windshield, to the right of the mirror.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, I pulled the trigger on the Escort Max 360. Has anybody else on here got one of these? The big feature with this one is the directional arrows that the Valentine One has been famous for. The patent on that has run out so Escort has rolled it out.
I just got the detector, so no major review yet, but compared to my Escort 9500ix, this thing is huge! I was really surprised by the size of it. It's not 1980 big, but significantly larger than any I've had in the last 15 years.
It came with a soft case for it, the mount and the cord. In my opinion it should have come in a hard case like my 9500ix for the money this thing costs!
I went with the Escort over the Valentine One based on reported V1 false positives and the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) / Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) that many cars on the road now have. Reportedly the DSP module in the Escort Max 360 deals with these much better.
As I get it setup and get some miles on it I'll post up my thoughts, but I'd love to hear what anyone else who has one thinks of this model.
I bought the Passport MAX II right before the 360 launched. Had I known, I would have waited a few more weeks. The MAX II has been very good, but I think the arrows might be mildly helpful.
Mostly Radar here in CA. The detectors may pick up the Laser if the cop is shooting someone ahead of you. You really need a laser jammer to defeat laser.
I have a older hidden Escort SRX with laser jammers. It's saved me from radar too many times to count and at least 1x watching a laser cop look down at his gear as if to say wtf then back on target with me now barely at the limit. 😎
I was quite pleased with my 9500ix too. I did get hits from Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) / Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) on cars I was passing, but it was an annoyance at most. My 9500ix started showing a "Remote Power Reset" message. I would reboot it and that would go away and all was good...except it no longer detected radar! So, I opted to upgrade.
I run an 8500 X50 and it works well. We have mostly k/ka band here in Nevada and it picks that up well. I am at my home in Las Vegas at the moment and for the first time it shot off a "Laser" warning. No idea what it is or what it means and didn't know it picked up that band.

I use the 9500ix and it has paid for itself many times. My only complaint and reason for possibly upgrading would be that I have noticed the newer cars with lane awareness/autopilot seem to set it off. Every time I come on the tail of a new Acura, KA band goes off like crazy until I pass them

I have a Max II, and yeah, I wish I had waited about a month to get it so that I'd have the arrows. I like it, but the suction cup mount sucks. Or, more accurately, it doesn't suck well enough.
Recently went though a bunch of thought on buying a radar detector... And chose to go with Radenso. New to the US, the thing that sold me was their commitment to free constant software upgrades based on user feedback. This is critical with the proliferation of radar/sonar-based proximity systems in cars and particularly large trucks.
So far I really like the unit, and it has saved me one or twice already.

Yeah, I just upgraded from a 9500i. Like the whole arrow thing as it certainly helps identify where the cops are hiding. I can't even begin to think about how much I have saved in tickets and insurance. Won't even think about driving without it!
One major gripe. While the sticky cup finally adheres to the windshield, the whole magnetic mount parts simply sucks! The unit bounces around, occasionally it slips off, why they don't make a mount that locks the unit in place is beyond me. This new magnetic mount is not "progress."
Next up may be a laser jammer. Not too crazy about the whole hard mount setup, as it will be a pain to remove re-install with different vehicle.
Radar is still more popular because 1) it's cheaper technology for departments to buy 2) doesn't require the window to be down as opposed to laser which does in order operate effectively.
Thanks for the radenso like k... Never heard of them before.
I have an antique passport which I occasionally bust out for long trips... Mainly to make me feel better.
Been toying with picking up a new one.
Radenso looks interesting - I can't get the website to load past the homepage, but I'll check it out later. As noted above, I like my Max II, even if it is currently held together by a hairband I stole from the wife's ponytail after the Max II fell off the windshield to smack into the floorwell due to a suction cup that doesn't suction.
I have a K40 also, and I'm happy with its performance. I also have an older V1 but I balked at paying $288 to update it (you enter the serial number and Mike tells you the cost to update - I would have gone for it at $99). I may yet relent, but for now I am surviving without arrows.
You men with K40 360; how do you find the laser function? And/or any instances that it worked well against a laser gun?
I found it so so with some of the newer guns out there, and not sure K40 provides updates. Of course, all this varies state to state.
Any new reviews/updates on Radenso or SW update on MAX 360? Got a 10 yr old Bel RX65 Pro, still works great and saved me numerous tickets but want an addition for 991.
I used a BEL RX-65 Pro for years. It was a good unit. The MAX II is much better, and I'm sure the 360 is too.
For those of you who are looking for a radar detector mounting solution, try the BlendMount. It's not cheap, but it is the best mount that I have ever used. It is rock solid, and it's out of the way.
Wow Dennis nice subtle picture to make me jealous/drool over your 997TT cab! I can confer that the blend mount is best, but obnoxiously expensive. As an alternative I purchased a mirror mount for $30 and it has served me well. It can also be used in multiple different cars as it is a more universal mount!
I don't have a blendmount, but that has been my concern with it too. If you have the Max360, which is significantly larger than the 9500ix, I think it would be a real problem with the blendmount. However, that is all speculation. Hopefully someone will speak up who has this in place.
I haven't had an issue with it. From the driver's seat, it doesn't block your vision too much. I wouldn't call it annoying at all. It's certainly less obstructive than having it on the windshield with the suction cup, in my opinion.
In my 996, I used suction cups and put my radar detector on the top of the windshield, to the right of the mirror. It was out of the way, but it interfered with the sun visors.
What is the correct Blendmount for a 996? I see several different mirror types. In one picture it looks as though power is coming from the dome light. How easy is that to do?
I contacted the folks at BlendMount directly to verify the correct model before I purchased a unit.
There are wiring diagrams on this site (sorry, I don't have a link) that will show you which wires to tap for wiring at the dome light. It's not hard. You could also run a wire down the a-pillar to the accessory plug behind the radio, if you prefer that.
I have an 8500 X50 that is working fine in South Carolina and around. State troopers are using Ka band radars where my local Law Enforcement are using sometimes K band. I do get some K band false alert from some red lights downtown but the silent button is a nice feature to cut them. I dont get that many interferences on the Ka band.
I have it mounted on suction cup but thinking on going to a rear mirror mount.
