Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Will switch to RE71 soon as the RE11 is on ~3mo back order for the rears, and they will need to be replaced before then.
Leading evidence: 'Replace before' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace before' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm still getting a feel for my car with the new (to me) suspension.
I make it out to the local PCA AX fairly regularly, and hardly ever see any other 996's. Seems like it's all about the mid-engine cars these days. Anyway, it was cool to see another '99 996 yesterday:
The day started out wet, cold and windy, then progressed to just cold and windy. I'm still getting a feel for my car with the new (to me) suspension. So far, so good.
The course was super-short and very wide. So we got quite a few runs (13) as there weren't many spins or cones hit.

RE-11 right now. Will switch to RE71 soon as the RE11 is on ~3mo back order for the rears, and they will need to be replaced before then. Presumably I can mix RE11 in front and RE71 in the rear without any issue.
Painted with black plastidip ($25 for all four wheels
). It's been a couple of years and up close it doesn't look so great anymore. I'm going to peel it off soon. Considering the price and minor effort to apply it, I have no complaints.
Looks fun. Potomac region draws a handful of 996 to autox here, always nice to go up against something similar. I am jealous of that lot too, looks like a cone road course compared to what we generally have here (aside from FedEx).
You're going to love re71r, sooo much grip. Definitely stretching the limits of what can be called a 200tw tire, in a good way. So much grip that I'd be really hesitant to mix them with your old re11 as you're going to have significantly more rear axle grip now. Under steer no bueno
Definitely! And if you're in Berkeley, you have no excuse for not showing up to the Alameda events...
Yes, 17x9. I haven't used anything else for AX, so I can't offer any comparisons. They are heavier than the MY02 18's that I have sitting in the garage.
I'm your twin in that picture. Someone with a 997 C4S commented that I have very nice exhaust note
and asked what I've done to it. He must have meant your car :-)
I am running falken rt-615k+, they have very good grip and work right away in the cold. Similar
to re71r except they dont have the longitudinal grip of the re71r, so don't brake or accelerate as well.
From the video we ran a very similar line so I'd guess our times are quite similar.
Hello Tom! In fact, you were faster than me. And so were a lot of other folks!
I'll go ahead and blame the tires
After 10k miles, ~10 AX, and several track sessions, I imagine they're not at their best anymore. Plus I'm still learning how to drive at AX.
The exhaust is
this one
. I'm always amazed at the number of 'silent' Porsche's out on course. Even though I drive slow, the sounds makes me feel fast
I was going to make a dirty joke about twins, but I will refrain... Aand that exhaust note is awesome by the way! I've been thinking a lot about doing the Fister exhaust. It sounds, to me, fantastic for the money.
Your exhaust sounds good on the video. With 10K miles, your re11s may be
heat cycled out, you'll love your new re71r when you get them. I'd bet you'll pick up at least a second in a 30s course on the re71r. But I don't know if they'll work on a track though.
