Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, I have a slightly odd offset request. I have come across a nice set of BBS CHR rims in 19x8.5 on the front and 19x10 on the rear. The front offsets are fine - but the rear offset is 38mm. I am going from an 18x10 Carrera Sport wheel. My question is - will the 38mm offset on the rear fit my 2003 Mk II 911 Carrera NB? The 38mm offset technically suggests it is suited to wide body cars or Boxsters and Caymans. That particular wheel is only listed for the 996 in a 19x11 with a different offset. I figure it should fit? The offset calculator at 101 tires says that I will gain 16mm clearance between the tyre and the strut, and it will push out 16mm towards the fender - both of which seem fine as there is heaps of room to move wider as it is. So does anyone have a definitive answer on this?

POST 2Original post

I'm pretty sure most narrow body rear rims are +63 to +65. Since you're comparing rear rims of equal width (10"), it would push the outer lip out 25-27mm. Unless I'm missing something. Right now I have an 11" wide rim with a +63 offset and a 10 or 12mm spacer (can't quite remember) and I'm about flush, no rubbing. So I'm at about +50 offset including the spacer, with a rim that's .5" (12.7mm) wider on each side. So.. I think a +38 10" wide rear rim might work. Can anyone else double check my math??

POST 3Original post

I have 18x11 with a 36 offset with 295s and you cant barely fit a piece of paper between the tire and the fender but they do not rub at all. If I am doing my math correctly, mine are @ 175/103mm split and a 10 inch would be @ 165/89mm split so those are basically 10 mm less wide then mine from the hub to the outside.
