Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I don't think it's my imagination anymore, but I noticed a performance decrease in my 3.4L Mk1 Tiptronic when carrying too small kids (age 11 and 13) in the front and back. The acceleration is noticeably more sluggish carrying two small people. So basically I can tell if I'm carrying passengers in this car blind folded. Never experienced this with any other car. Anyone else??
I'm assuming that combined they weigh less than 200 pounds - IMO this should not be enough to cause a perceptible difference in performance.
Does the car seem significantly slower after filling up the tank? Gas weighs about 6 pounds a gallon, and the 996 holds ~16 gallons - so I'd expect adding 100 pounds of fuel would cause a similar but less pronounced issue for you.
Any chance your subconscious is kicking in and preventing you from accelerating like a madman because there are kids in the car?
I could never tell a difference in my C4S with a full tank vs. an empty tank or with a passenger vs. without a passenger.
I always found it funny that people sometimes make comments about how the AWD system in the 996 is sooooooo heavy that it detracts from performance. It weighs about 130 lbs.
Depends on how sensitive you are to changes in the car's performance.
I read an article either in Road and Track or Car and Driver about
the run-offs for national champion at Road Atlanta in all the SCCA
classes. The author wrote that some driver was never going to
be champion (in one of the less powerful classes - like Formula V)
because he was 80 lbs too fat.
But you have 20hp & 0.2L more than my Mk1. Also the Tip doesn't help my case either.
I think the obvious solution is to just drive my 996 kids-free, because it feels and performs just fine without them. Thanks!
The other way to tell that other people are in the car when you're blindfolded: The screaming as you veer into oncoming traffic. It's very distracting.
