Thanks; I fully understand how a cam bolt changes the geometry; my concern was that it looked like the cam/washer was not in its "seat" in the crossmember.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, All; Finally had a nice enough day to crawl under the aft-end of my still new-to-me 2001 C2. I noticed something that caught my eye as probably being not where it is supposed to be. Please see enclosed pic. The picture is taken from the rear bumper of the car, looking forward at the rear lower suspension. Left side. One of the adjustment cam bolts appears to ignorant me to be 'way out of where it *should* be. The lower part of the suspension crossmember has a lip on it like the cam on the bolt is supposed to remain in that position. Instead, it's like it's shifted upwards by about 3/16". Is this allowable? As in, perhaps the top portion *isn't* cut into the crossmember, and this is just an out-of-the-ordinary adjustment requirement? A bit concerned because the exposed area is shiny metal. Didn't get under there to put a wrench on it because I only had it on a jack and well, you know. Your opinions? Carl

Those eccentric bolts are a mind screw - but that looks like it's supposed to. If you're interested, here's a YouTube video showing how a cam bolt changes suspension geometry... Eccentric bolt action - YouTube

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks; I fully understand how a cam bolt changes the geometry; my concern was that it looked like the cam/washer was not in its "seat" in the crossmember. I understand the bolt will change as the alignment is changed to pull the arm in or out. I would have just thought it was a function of movement had the crossmember "seat" for the washer not had a lip on it like a recess that I ignorantly thought was supposed to "hold" the washer.

It looks funny to me every time I get under that end of the car...you're not the only one.
