Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2003. c4s. 73000 miles Rattles when I go over bumps. Shocks ? They are original. Or bushings of some sort ? Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Does it sound like this? https://youtu.be/hWbxhZzVd8M If so, I did the fix on my 996 a couple months ago and things are nice and quiet.

POST 3Original post

It was front strut mount bearings in my C4S. It was more of a rattle than a squeak.

POST 4Original post

Another possible cause is tie rod ends....check them out. -P

POST 5Original post

Can you determine if the rattle is coming from the front or rear of car?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies. Definitely a rattle/s. With my poor hearing it's tough to tell if its front or back or all over. I'll get someone to ride with me. I'll jack the car up and start looking at bushings and links.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I overnighted 4 drop links and new mount bushings for front and rear swaybar. Pelican is so handy. Easy to install. I'm pretty sure the rattle is gone. The old parts were denfinitly shot. I feel the bumps but i no longer hear them. Going for a longer test drive tonight. Thanks again for the feedback.

POST 8Original post

After 13 years and 73000 miles every piece of rubber in your suspension should be dead. And I doubt the shocks are in very good shape as well. It all needs to be changed. It sure didn't sould like that when new.
