Dan stuck around and helped us with his high dollar bore scope to inspect the cylinders of my 81 928S Euro engine that suffered a cam shaft failure (valves checked out OK) and took the time to check out Mike Buccicone's perfect 1993 928 GTS and 99 996.

Fantastic experience all the way around and I recommend Deutsche RennSport VERY highly!

BTW, we got the 928 engine back together and she's running like a champ - thanks again Dan for the assist (he works on transaxle P cars as well).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Of course it was, but Dan identified the UAOS harness had a fault (which Skip promptly sent me a new harness) - problem solved.
After many unsuccessful attempts to get my car into local shops for service, I took my 996 to an Indy Mechanic, Dan Crytzer of Deutsche RennSport (DRS) in Pittsburgh, PA. I know, long haul from Columbus, OH, but as it turns out WELL WORTH the trek. Like a lot of 911s the car sat most of it's life as a garage queen with only 32K miles. While cosmetically perfect, as expected it was in need of a LOT of deferred maintenance and even more preventative mechanical work. I purchased the L&N IMSB Dual Row Solution from my favorite parts supplier (Roger Tyson @ 928sRus) and the UAOS (from Skip) because they are "one & done" parts and I didn't want to ever have to do those again. Note to file: Most Porsche shops won't even consider installing "after market" parts and the search for a reputable mech who will can be difficult... ask me how I know.
I previously met Dan at the 25th Annual 928 Frenzy at the Dulles VA Holiday Inn in Sept as he'd just opened up his shop DRS in Pittsburgh PA. Great guy & great mechanic with reasonable rates who will work with you to ensure your car gets what it NEEDS and doesn't try to "Up Sale" you into crap you don't need. When I called, Dan didn't blink and said bring her in... He took on the job of dropping the engine & tranny as a unit to install my IMSB Solution & UAOS including a full Tip Automatic Transmission Service w/ New Seals, Water Pump, Porsche Coolant Res Tank, Spark Plugs & Tubes, Coils, both 1/2 Shafts Rebuilt, Electrical Harness Repair (Mice), New Oil Fill Tube and other plastic breather / crossover tubes that were crumbling over time, all fluids (of course) and a lot of other stuff I'm forgetting... the list was LONG and way over due. The car is now 100% mechanically and cosmetically
Most importantly Dan's customer service is UNMATCHED... literally. I thought I may have an issue with the low coolant light flashing on the way home (which is wired into the UAOS). Even though I didn't ask (actually tried to talk him out of it) Dan dropped everything and DROVE to Columbus, OH, on his own dime to ensure my car was in perfect order. Of course it was, but Dan identified the UAOS harness had a fault (which Skip promptly sent me a new harness) - problem solved. Dan stuck around and helped us with his high dollar bore scope to inspect the cylinders of my 81 928S Euro engine that suffered a cam shaft failure (valves checked out OK) and took the time to check out Mike Buccicone's perfect 1993 928 GTS and 99 996. Again, great guy with great customer service and the trip to / from Columbus was No Charge! WHO DOES THAT!?!? Needless to say, I bought him dinner. Fantastic experience all the way around and I recommend Deutsche RennSport VERY highly! BTW, we got the 928 engine back together and she's running like a champ - thanks again Dan for the assist (he works on transaxle P cars as well).

Ditto to all that you said. I'm lucky enough to live right up the hill from him! When my 1993 perfect 968 cab with 31,000 miles top froze half open, Dan decided to spend a day dismantling both convertible drive transmissions, thoroughly cleaning them, greasing and reassembling instead of taking the easy profitable way and just ordering in the parts (would have been about $800 each) and moving on. Saved me about $1100 and he's done similar work on that car saying he gets the greatest satisfaction from keeping the "old ones" running well. How lucky we are to know Dan.
