Looking to run a slightly lower profile tire because I don't like the look of the thick sidewall on the fronts, but I don't want to stretch it too much.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got my car back after months of being in the shop getting a new bank 1 head. Looking to run a slightly lower profile tire because I don't like the look of the thick sidewall on the fronts, but I don't want to stretch it too much. Wheels: 7 x 17 50mm ( 996 362 124 02) 9 x 17 55mm ( 996 362 128 02) Currently running a stock tire setup: 205/50zr17 front 255/40zr17 rear I was thinking either: 205/45zr17 front 245/40zr17 rear But am worried about the fronts looking too small, so would potentially go with: 205/45zr17 front 235/40zr17 rear Only other option would be to go with a 215/45zr17 front tire and leave the rears stock, but I don't think that'll look much different. Going purely for looks here and with a performance/summer tread as I'm in FL. Any pics would help/input. Thanks.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just came across a thread where a guy's running: 17 x 7", ET 50, Porsche Part Number 996.362.124.01 Tires 225 / 45 / 17 Rears: 17 x 9", ET 55, Porsche Part Number 996.362.128.02 Tires 255 / 40 / 17 Maybe this will fulfill front sidewall looking too big?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Apologies there is a wheel+tire forum so will post there. Any input still appreciated -

That's very much a bubbled sidewall, 225 normally goes on an 8. It'll also look different relative to the rear tire spec which is "correct" (255 normally goes on 9, sometimes 9.5). I don't even know who makes these sizes anymore, but on something as narrow as a 7 I would be looking at 215/45 max, maybe even stepping down to 195/50.
